We had the good fortune of connecting with Maurice -Nice Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maurice -Nice, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have a quote “Fashion is A Sport, There are Players and There are fans. Which One Are You?” Once I realize my hobby was my passion, I stepped full on to the court. As a kid growing up in New York I’ve had the opportunity to consume and love a great deal of art in various outlets but what’s better and more fulfilling than producing these products and experiences for the people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a true garmento and it is a true blessing to be able to sustain a living doing things I love. Although I’ve been around for a while, it’s exciting to know my biggest contributions are ahead of me. Growing up in Harlem in the 90’s and 2000’s with the entire New York City as my play ground I’m happy to be apart of a generation and social circle that is now the essence of what is now mainstream fashion and culture. Who would know it would be so accurate when creating the brand ‘influentialNY’, originally created to represent my creative friend circle as we ran though the streets of New York would be an introduction to some of New York’s top creatives. Whether its through fashion design or event production, consistency has always been the key to success. From the ups and downs of successfully producing Street Wear Fashion Week NYC coinciding Mercedes Benz Fashion Week & The Vegas Trade Shows to producing products and conducting various and activations and pop-up shops before it became regular culture in the industry, its been the consistent contributions that have giving the grace of continued business in the fashion and entertainment industry all these years. As they say, “I’m not new to this, I’m true to this” ,growing up in NY and living in LA for almost a decade, its time NiceInHarlem Productions through it’s various works will now globally tell the story of what and whom influenced what is now considered “The Culture”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok, for starters, Shopping! Gotta hit the usual suspects such as Max Field, Dover Street Market , & Bodega for your current street wear and designer needs and then a few Melrose boutiques such as Open Never Close and Former Vintage. The weekends are reserved for the local vintage flee markets such as Black Market Flea & Rosebowl especially! Now that that is covered…IN&OUT is a must and have to hit my favorite Creole Spot, Stevie’s.

Have to make a trip through the fashion district and the arts district for some photography. On the night side you’ll catch us for a vibe on Wed, at PRIMARY DTLA and APT 200 depending of who’s hosting that week.

Fashion,Food, and theres always a fashion or music industry related event happening.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost s/o to my good friend Michele Wylen for the reference & every one who’s been following and supporting my journey from day one, you know who you are when you read this.
