We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always loved the idea of creating and transforming pieces into something uniquely mine. I still have some of my grandmother’s items in my closet, which I think are so cool, but I needed to rework them to fit my style. That process was so enjoyable that I wanted to continue doing it. During college, I used to go thrift and vintage shopping, and I loved finding unique gems that were unlikely to be found elsewhere. It gave me a different feeling than shopping at the mall, where everything looks the same.

As a Pisces, I tend to get over things quickly, and thrift and vintage shopping allow me to keep finding new treasures—always moving on to the next best thing. Since I currently work in Hollywood, where we’ve been dealing with strikes, the industry doesn’t feel as reliable as it once did. So, I wanted to create something I could truly call my own.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Here’s an expanded version incorporating your new brand:

“I’ve been fortunate to work in the TV and film industry for 15 years in wardrobe, surrounded by clothes and fabric my entire adult life. I’ve developed an eye for what looks good and how to help people feel confident in what they wear. Throughout my career, I’ve stayed true to myself, treating everyone with love and kindness. I’ve learned that we’re constantly evolving and absorbing new information, and it’s important to hold onto our humility.

I’m proud of the experiences I’ve gained, which equip me to handle any future situation. It hasn’t always been easy; the time and dedication required in this field aren’t for the faint-hearted. However, staying focused on my goals has made my journey worthwhile.

Now, I’m excited to channel my passion and expertise into my own brand, “The Vintage Point.” This brand is a true reflection of my beliefs and dedication, offering unique, one-of-a-kind items and staple pieces that add flair to any wardrobe. I want “The Vintage Point” to speak for itself, showcasing the uniqueness and individuality of each piece

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d create a memorable experience by showcasing my favorite spots. We’d start with brunch and a relaxing day at Mama Shelter’s rooftop for beautiful views and great drinks, followed by dinner at Castaway, my go-to spot for a fantastic meal. We’d explore local culture with visits to inspiring museums and art galleries, and enjoy live jazz or R&B at The Normandie Club. A beach day at Venice or Santa Monica would offer sun, sand, and seaside dining, while a hike in the hills would provide stunning vistas. Shopping in trendy areas like Melrose Avenue or The Grove would be a must, with stops at local markets for unique finds. Throughout the week, we’d enjoy a mix of outdoor adventures and a vibrant nightlife.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I really enjoy the book ” The subtle art of not giving a f*ck” by Mark Manson and “You are a badass” by Jen Sincero I always tend to grab those books when i have some self doubt. it reminds me to step into my power and keep going. Sometimes we need a refresher and reminder that If God put it on your heart you should act on it. dont let the idea die
