We had the good fortune of connecting with Liana Bassior and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liana, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Astrology has been something that has been a passion of mine since I was a kid growing up in a spiritual and holistic town. Learning about my natal chart in my childhood brought clarity to parts of myself that I didn’t understand and helped me have a deeper look into why I felt certain ways.

Learning about a practice like Astrology has changed my lens in which I see the world, and helps me navigate day to day life in a much more calm, balanced, and purposeful way. That is why I wanted to create this business, so I could share that knowledge and guidance with others, so that other people can have some help navigating the world too. Having one on one sessions with people, and sharing my Astrological thoughts for my podcast AstroLyrical, comes from a place of wanting to help people and give them a tool to work with so that they understand themselves better and can understand others better too.

We are living in confusing, upsetting, yet transformative times, and I want people to know that there are practices to help work with it all. Astrology is a spiritual, faith based modality, teaching us that we have purpose on this journey, and we are meant to learn and develop and grow, even from the hardest of circumstances.

I think by knowing this and working with this practice, people can know that the universe is supporting you and guiding you no matter what.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am really proud of where my business is at and all the potential growth I see happening for it in the future. Starting an astrology practice/creating a podcast isn’t easy, but it was within the last couple years that I knew that it was something I was meant to do. And once I figured that out, it felt like the universe was guiding me through each step to make it happen. It didn’t mean each step was easy, there was still a lot of work involved and there still is to growing my business. But I have learned that persistence is key, and that you need to have passion for what you’re doing. If you do not have passion then you probably won’t be able to keep working with all the ups and downs that go into having a business. If you feel like this is part of your purpose and love it, then you know that you just have to push through that discomfort and keep going.

The main thing I want people to know about my astrology practice and podcast is that it’s ok if it isn’t for you. I do not want people to feel like they are wrong or bad if they don’t connect to astrology the way I do, or if it doesn’t make sense. I always tell people in my readings to that take what works for you from what I say and leave the rest. Some things may resonate with you and some may not and that’s ok.

At the same time I will say that if you are open to this practice you may learn some really interesting things about yourself. Probably most of it are things you already know about yourself, but this is a new lens to see it from. And that’s what I want people to get out of my readings and AstroLyrical, to have a new lens to look at yourself and the world. And by having that new lens people can hopefully see things more clearly, which I hope elevates th culture that we live in.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many great places I would show someone in LA! Magnolia Park in Burbank is a great spot, it has everything there! Great coffee shops, plants stores, cute vintage shops, and even a store that is dedicated to cats! Cat everything, it’s pretty cool.

I also love gardens like Huntington, or my favorite Descanso Gardens. It’s in La Canada the North-East part LA. It’s a gorgeous garden full of all kinds of plants, trees, and ponds. It’s a lovely place to go, walk around, have some coffee with a friend, or go by yourself and take the afternoon to chill and decompress.

And definitely we would need to check out a KCRW event! KCRW is a LA radio station known for throwing amazing free concerts during the summer. They have events all over the city from Santa Monica to Pasadena, and they are fantastic. They even have events at museums, like The Natural History Museum near USC, so you can dance near an elephant exhibit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who have supported me in my business and helped me figure out what I wanted to do in life. My family including my mom, sister, and late Father. They have all helped me evolve into who I was meant to be, with no judgement, only love and support. Letting me explore and given me the freedom to grow into myself, without questioning it or doubting me.

My partner Max, for encouraging me and helping me do the hard stuff, even when I really didn’t want to. He helped me understand how to be comfortable being authentic with not only myself but also with my business. He and my family have been there so throughly whenever I felt like it was too hard to run a business, when I felt overwhelmed, and when I felt like I needed to give up.

My AstroLyrical team-Juliana Hartman, Alana Cheuvront, and Danielle Marascalchi. You three have helped make my podcasting dreams a reality, and our all so incredibly talented. You make this happen, and I couldn’t do it without you guys.

And my beautiful community of friends, who have all listened to me talk about these dreams for a long time, and supported me with love and the belief that I could do it.

I am so incredibly grateful for everyone who has been there for the ride, and continues to believe in what I am doing with all of this.
