We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jose, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work-life balance has definitely shifted over time, especially with marriage and family life. Early on, it was easier to compartmentalize things-work, personal interests, and time for myself. But as my responsibilities have grown, especially with my marriage and sons, balance has become more about integration than separation. I’ve had to become more intentional about what’s most important, and that can change depending on the day or situation.

Now, I think about balance as something fluid rather than a constant state to achieve. Instead of trying to keep everything perfectly aligned, I focus on finding peace in whatever I’m doing at the moment. Some seasons are heavier on family life, while others may require more focus on work or personal development. It’s all about adapting and making sure I don’t neglect self-care or spread myself too thin. I’ve realized that balance looks different for everyone, and it’s okay if mine doesn’t fit into a typical mold.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My professional journey as a wedding photographer has been driven by my love for capturing meaningful moments. What sets my work apart is the personal connection I strive to build with each couple, ensuring that their unique story is reflected in every photo. The journey hasn’t always been easy, especially in balancing creative demands with the logistics of running a family business. However, I’ve learned that adaptability and attention to detail are key to over coming challenges.

Through this work, I’ve discovered the power of storytelling-not just in the images I capture but in the way I interact with clients and bring their visions to life. I want each couple to feel that their story is being told with care and authenticity. The lessons I’ve learned along the way have shaped my approach to photography, and I’m excited to continue growing and refining my craft as I move forward.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d want to show them all the unique spots around West Palm Beach. We’d start at Howley’s for breakfast followed by spending the day at the beach. For dinner we would stop by Flanigans for ribs and garlic knots. For a fun day trip, we might head to Lion Country Safari or the Palm Beach zoo.

Throughout the week, we’d hire a charter boat to go deep-sea fishing, and of course, we would also grab lunch at Palm Beach Meats the Philly Cheesesteaks there are the best.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to two people who have played pivotal roles in my photography journey. Firstly father, who gifted me my first film camera when I was just 12 years old, sparking a lifelong passion for capturing moments. Second, my wife Teresa, who has not only supported me but has taught me so much about photography, helping me grow and refine my skills over the years. Their influence has shaped who I am as a photographer today.
