Meet Grace Nguyen | Third Generation Jeweler

We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Grace, what principle do you value most?
“Act out of love” is a principle that I hold dear to my heart. “Act” meaning showing your love through your behavior is very important to me. Anyone can say anything but your actions show your priorities and your genuine heart, so I try my best to make sure my actions and my words are in sync.
Since LOUPN is based on the idea that what goes around comes around, I believe that these acts of love, whether it’s the heart of encouraging others, helping friends through challenging times, or simply being a listening ear, or sharing a snack, will come back to me. I’m grateful that I’ve been experiencing many acts of kindness coming back to me from the LOUPN community, solidifying my belief.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Having worked as a Producer for many years prior to launching LOUPN, I’m great at bringing others’ ideas to life, but it took awhile to get comfortable telling my own stories and embracing my own art. I have always been attracted to jewelry and have been fascinated by Korean traditional designs, so when I started designing pieces, I leaned into what really inspired me – Korean drama! I took screenshots of historical buildings, hanbok (Korean traditional dress) patterns, etc. while watching Korean drama and drew closer to my heritage. Thankfully, our audience resonated with it, and they requested more Korean designs! I learned to be authentic and stay close to what inspires you, and have grit to succeed!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA has some of the best authentic foods so that’s always the first place to start! We’d start in DTLA and eat at cozy Seoul Sausage, visit the Broad Museum, and walk around Little Tokyo Japanese Village Plaza. In Malibu, the Getty is a must to see the most beautiful views of the LA city and ocean, as well as calming architecture, and garden. Stop by the Sawtelle Hide Sushi for an old time favorite sushi spot. In OC, stop by Pho Ga Hai Van 2 for the most soothing chicken pho, then hit the beach for gorgeous views at Laguna beach!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to shout out Esther Lee from Asian Founded! Esther’s marketing agency is not only about helping Asian founded businesses grow, but Esther is truly gifted in community building and has the heart of gold. She has invited me to numerous events, connected me to countless founders and brands, and most recently, gave me the opportunity to participate in Achha Demo Day where I got to pitch my business in front of a panel of judges, and audience of investors, influencers, and supporters for a chance to win $15K. Esther has championed me, and challenged me to grow from “founder” mode to “CEO” mode. Not only did she give me the opportunity to pitch, but she hand held each of the pitch brands to make sure they are set up for success by connecting us with advisors, and to the other participating brands to build friendships. I’m truly grateful for how she loves the community!
