Meet Veronica Ibanez | SAHM & Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Ibanez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I love baking and cooking, since I was a kid learning from my grandmother always in the kitchen helping. And as i got older i did my time in school and took every class that had to do with cooking, up until college. When the pandemic happened i decided it was time to do what i love. And i talked with my sisters and my partner and I went for it and did not look back. I started a page sent it out to my family and my closed friends. I started doing samples giving them out and started getting orders and went from there.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is my baking. I’m from Argentina, born there and raised in Cali. Their isn’t many places in LA or around that dedicate to that. I make strictly argentina pastries, sweets and one savory thing, which are Empanadas which is my signature most sold item. I also bake American pastries during holiday season. That made me stand out and it helped me get where i am today. It wasn’t easy and I still not easy. I’m not booked everyday or all the time but i am blessed and grateful for every opportunity I’ve got and I keep getting to show case my talent and my pastries. Being a stayed home mom makes it easier for me to be able to do this but at times is a challenge because i do have 2 boys who need my full attention 24/7 so when i have big orders that’s when i struggle the most because i tried to balance work and time with my boys. What I want the world to know is that i love what i do. I love to get feedback and to see the smile on my clients makes me so happy. To see how they enjoy what i make and to see them come back every year to make orders. From big companies to other businesses, to doing charity work and donating for fundraisers. Also to be able to show love and appreciation threw my pastries.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly i would take them to a pop up event. And showed them the underground of food and sweet. Show her my favorite vendors and my fav little spots that are a hit in my book. My number one spot is Ocha in LA that’s always my go to but also a hidden gem on Tustin called La Porteña that it’s authentic Argentina food. Where you can also find my pastries there sometimes. But when it comes to pop ups i like to go eat at Leña Barbecue.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandmother, My mom, My aunts/uncles, My partner, My kids but specially for my baby girl, my angel in heaven Naia. Baby girl i love you so much and i hope mommy is making you proud.
