We had the good fortune of connecting with Keena Ballard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keena, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My priorities have shifted to embracing a balance that fosters personal growth and professional creativity. I am dedicating more time to innovative projects that expand my business and enrich my skill set and knowledge. Alongside these pursuits, I remain mindful of managing my daily energy and prioritizing self-care to maintain a sense of harmony and well-being.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my journey, a blend of storytelling and advocacy that amplifies underrepresented voices, particularly women of color who have disabilities. What sets my work apart is my dedication to infusing authenticity and inclusivity into every project. I strive to create narratives that resonate with audiences who rarely see themselves represented in mainstream media. I’m most proud of the connections my work has forged—with viewers, collaborators, and the communities I aim to uplift. Knowing my art can inspire or make someone feel seen fuels my passion every day.

Professionally, getting to where I am today has been anything but easy. As a first in my generation to go college student while navigating autism and ADHD, I’ve faced challenges that required resilience, creativity, and self-advocacy. There were moments of doubt and countless times I had to find ways to manage my energy while staying true to my vision. What helped me persevere was my unwavering belief in the stories I want to tell and the support of those who believe in me.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that challenges often lead to growth. I’ve discovered the importance of setting boundaries, asking for help when needed, and celebrating progress, no matter how small.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that it’s not just about me—it’s about creating space for others who’ve been overlooked. My art is a testament to the power of representation and the beauty of embracing one’s individuality. I want people to see that every voice matters and that every story has the potential to change lives.
