We had the good fortune of connecting with Errin Lema and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Errin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I created my salon Beauty Babes & Co. to educate women and help them grow as an artist. The only times I have ever been fired in my life was because girls were jealous of me and lied to the boss or company to get me fired. So I decided after the second time it happened that I wanted to encourage and help other women succeed. I teach my girls if we work as a team, the clients will come. I help my girls build their clientele so one day they can start their own business. This is what makes my salon stand out over others. We do educational classes monthly, if not weekly to make them the best artists they can be.
I will soon be launching my academy to hopefully help many women in the industry succeed.

I have worked so many jobs in the service industry and they all helped me get to where I am at today. The first biggest influential job I had was simply just serving in my early 20’s at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village. It is why I pride on my customer service and guarantee my work to all clients.
I believe the hardest challenge I have ever had was starting a family. Balancing work life and home life gets hard as a business owner in the service industry. Work is constant around the clock as a business owner but I wouldn’t change anything in the world. Just took me some time to figure out the perfect balance.
I think the hardest lesson for me is that I always think of my salon as my second family. I tend to love and trust everyone but I have gotten burned by employees and that was so hard for me.
I want the world to know that my business is build to help women or men succeed! I try to boost up my employees and make them the best artists they can be! I want to be known for helping others succeed.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the beach if they have never visited Malibu and go to Neptunes net during the day and Nobu at night. I also, would take them to the ventura harbor as it is one of my favorite places where you can go out on a boat or just walk the harbor. There is also the best fish and chips there at Andreas.
In Westlake Village there is Stonehaus where you can drink wine and hang out and order food. It is one of the best places to go and unwind and relax and just chat and catch up.
I would also invite friends over for a game night because I love playing games and laughing and talking.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My first mentor I ever had was Cristina Romeo. She made me the brow and makeup master that I am today and I still do makeup events with her to this day. Cristina is one of the most talented people I have ever worked for in so many ways. My second mentor was Nora Cochran who taught me how to do volume lash extensions. She was the first person I ever watched to volume lashes and I was in awe watching her detailed skills. I am the artist today because I worked and learned from her. My third mentor would be Anna Kissick. She was my business partner for many years and I learned a lot about business and lashes from her. My fourth mentor would be Madison Leigh. Madison and I both are salon owners and she had helped with so many business ideas. I love that we help each other even just being a few cities away you would think we would be rivalries but instead we help and boost each other up.
