We had the good fortune of connecting with Iyala Berley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Iyala, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think of risk as something that takes us out of our comfort zone, that can push the envelope in expressing our authenticity and can be an invitation to listen to our soul’s guidance. Risks in my life have lead me to new places both geographically and internally and I find the knowledge and growth that comes through travel and inner work to be an important part of my personal evolution. In terms of my business, putting myself out there and sharing my story and experiences around fertility has felt like a huge risk. I consider myself a fairly introverted and private person and so sharing some of the most personal details and stories around one of the most challenging times of my life came with an immense feeling of vulnerability. However, like many risks we take in life, once you take the first step it not only gets easier but can become a joy and a celebration of honoring our authenticity and our voices. The more risks I take inspires me to help guide others in taking risks that they feel called to explore for themselves. Whether it is going for something you never thought you could, making a move others don’t agree with, or simply surprising yourself with a new approach risk taking can be so liberating.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is aimed towards women on a fertility journey. Born from my own personal experience, I found that so much of the fertility yoga being offered was very outcome based which felt limiting and even detrimental at times. I wanted to offer women not only a program to maximize their ability to get pregnant but also help them get some space away from gripping around the obsession about having to get pregnant. What I found was this not only brought more ease, and more receptivity for conception, but a more liberated and joyful way to experience life. I am so excited to share with women the tools that helped me to find a more expansive way of experiencing the fertility journey as a rite of passage.

Passion and the calling to help women reclaim parts of themselves and their vitality has been my driving force. I like to say I help women revolutionize their fertility journey so that it feels empowered for them. So much of the time the fertility journey and all its challenges leave women feeling disempowered and I found the more we can reconnect to our soul’s essence and the pure energy of creation and creativity, we are able to truly embody our fertility. It is through the calling to help guide others that has kept my drive steady and hopeful even through the business challenges that have arisen.

I continue to learn how passion feeds endurance and surrender and trust are the biggest strengths I have felt. Even within running a business there is only so much in my control and when I continue to lead from my heart, the challenges turn into stepping stones.

I have learned mistakes happen, things can change, and flexibility is key. Keeping your vision steadfast is important as is being creative and open to how it comes into fruition is important.

I would love for people to know that Wild Wakening comes from a personal and authentic approach that doesn’t see any 2 clients as the same, and I honor the beauty of working together to develop a personalized program, as we deep dive into the client’s best tools for her evolvement. I incorporate yoga, meditation, breathwork, sound healing, embodied dance, somatics, among other modalities that have I studied and found so healing on my own journey. I love the creating personalized practices for my clients and watching their journey evolve and grow.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I actually don’t know L.A. very well at all but I would say catching the sunset on the beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely! Gilleon Smith Mercado was and is a huge source of help, inspiration, encouragement and endless knowledge. We worked together when I had a fashion line and then flash to 7 years later, we joined forces again on a different project and not only did she help create my web site, she has helped so much with the business aspect and creating and streamlining my offerings. She helps bring clarity, support, love, and humor. I call her the midwife of my baby, Wild Wakening.
