Tara R., we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
Greeting Good People,

I am a returning “Shout Out” interviewee who has continued to maintain, motivate, and maneuver through this thing that we call life. I currently reside in Kansas City, MO and still travel back to California from time to time. In brink of all the many different world events which have caused me to relocate, I continue to be open and willing to share my progress with Voyage! As an educator and entrepreneur, I purposely revised and re emerge my brand based on trends, needs, and skill set. The world is forever changing and I must do so also. My desire and purpose to serve others is unconditional and based on the needs of others.

Currently, I am a district Career and Technical Education Coordinator for Kansas City Public Schools. Here, I enjoy assisting instructors elevate their teaching strategies in addition to revising and writing curriculum for CTE instruction.

What sets me apart from other humans is that I am very understanding of what’s fact and what’s not. I am very rational in my thinking and see things for what they are; not what I want them to be. I am very open and flexible in my ways of thinking; taking in all information and making sound decisions based on my own filtering process. I am very confident in my own skin and am not easily persuaded, especially if any information that I’ve found to be misleading, is an intentional deterrent. I believe that we ALL are capable of loving and being loved…..UNCONDITIONALLY! I am also a believer in creating safe spaces for myself and those around me. I am loyal to a fault and pride myself on being humble, intentional, and a true knowledge seeker.

One specific highlight of my journey was a personal experience that forced me to be, and think outside of the box. When I resided in California, I was not prepared for what would happen to me just after 1 month of accepting a job that I thought would an open door for more blessings and opportunities. The offer that I accepted was later rescinded, causing me to live in California with no job for a total of 3 months! This experience turned into a dark road where depression was lurking behind the first stop sign. After dealing with this for about a month or so, I was forced to dig deep and summons my higher self for guidance and wisdom. Without faith, knowing myself, and being confident in my abilities to survive, I would not have made it through to the next exit which ultimately led me to a more rewarding career and the opportunity to share my story with you today.

Another highlight is a continuation of my response from the last interview. I”ve been able to successfully manage a very rewarding profession in Education where I am categorized as a minority amongst many privileged and more “qualified” peers. I have been blessed to hold my own weight and develop a very good networking circle in a city where I had to reinvent, reestablish, and remain relevant. Things have progressed for me personally and professionally. My next move will be a reflection of where I see myself in the next 5-7 years. I foresee complete tenure within my organization which will allow for me to focus more of my next location to settle. I plan to immerse myself in more entrepreneurial opportunities that will lead to more networking and partnerships. I also plan to devise a more settled life’s plan for retirement where nature is pure, fruit and vegetables are abundant, and aqua blue waters flow clearly under my feet.

Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
Over the last 6 years since my exodus from California, life has been moving and shaking in addition to me discovering more of who I am as person. I am so excited about my future despite the most recent changes in our government and overall society. I always look for a silver lining and other ways to make sure I remain hopeful, joyful, and positive. I look forward to proving so many doubters that in the end, I WILL WIN and for everyone else to be hopeful for the future.

I enjoy being able to live unapologetically and free to create, dream, educate others and love. I’ve cried many tears in the midst of my growing pains and have always been rewarded with bountiful blessings and favor. I am so grateful for my health and strength in addition to my great genes! (I don’t look a day over 30!) I am blessed to still be able to enjoy educating humans in and out of the classroom. My love for children has expanded within my heart and so has my passion for helping those less fortunate. I continue to volunteer my time and donate to humanitarian organizations which allow for me to serve and provide a service.

I have also focused more on becoming a minimalist with the overall belief that less really is more. As long as my basic needs are met and I continue to give and receive positive vibes, I know that there will always be higher grounds for me to rise above while illuminating my spirit in the process.

We also want to give folks a chance to get to know you a bit better so we’ve prepared a fun lightning round of questions. Ready?

Life is often about tough choices – can you talk to us about your thought process, strategy or philosophy when it comes to making difficult choices or tradeoffs.
This statement is a true on indeed! I’ve made many tough choices like, when to move (relocated) careers to walk away from, people to leave behind or bring along for my journey, and also strategic moves with the intent to place me in a better position regarding my livelihood and personal safety. With each choice, I’ve always asked for guidance and signs to confirm my decisions. This has been my way to show my need to depend on God, my Ancestors, myself and common sense. I always want to make sure that each choice is beneficial enough for the risks which are expected to produce a great return. I invest in myself and think this offers an opportunity to develop and grow into the person I am destined to be.

My philosophy when it comes to making difficult choices or tradeoffs is to always listen to your inner voice and rely on your conscious. The inner voice is your spirit man and it was placed inside of you by the creator! Most times when we do our own thing without guidance or counsel, we tend to regret the consequences of our choices. Every life experience is a time of development and growth. Once a well developed plan to risk self and/or seek a tradeoff for potential gain of knowledge, resources and/or prosperity, it’s always worth the time and effort in making difficult choices that can ultimately lead to some of the most greatest life rewards.
