Meet ELZA | Creative Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with ELZA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ELZA, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is an individual measure. For me, success is being able to work for myself, create my own schedule, and invest my time for the best return. As a full time creative, I have had many trials that have made me wiser. Taking risks and studying myself are what led to my success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a full time art teacher, visual artist, jewelry designer, and mentor. I am passionate about what I do and it reflects in my work and teaching style. My artwork is eclectic, capturing the essence of my vision. Nature plays a huge part in my creative process, whether I am painting, designing jewelry or teaching my students. I am proud of being able to share my passion with others. I am excited that I am be able to work and live in my studio. The journey was filled with a lot of risk taking, getting out of comfort zones, but definitely believing in myself. One must have a vision, be consistent, have discipline, and must give back to others. The process was fun but uncertain at times. It was definitely not easy. Overcoming self doubt was definitely the most challenging. I overcame the challenges by staying true to myself and my vision. I am continuously learning and educating myself to this day. I learned that I am good at what I do and don’t rely on validation from others but welcome ideas and assistance. I would like the world to know that I am proud of my self and my brand. Whether it’s my services or my artistry, you are going to feel the unique and genuine energy. Elza Queen Art (E.Q.A.) is a creative lifestyle brand designed to elevate & inspire change. From inception to conception, launching with passion and purpose. E.Q.A. is the umbrella housing AReTes by Elza (jewelry line), and Kreative Spot (art studio) which sustains Seeds of Kolor, an initiative advocating for accessible quality art education.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start at my studio, Kreative Spot, in Pomona, Califas, a creative space to make art, listen to vinyl, connect and build. Pomona has a lot of history and cool local spots. We would start by exploring some local gardens/farms, like Sarvodaya Farm, Gente Garden and Growing Roots all located in Pomona. Enjoy nature then grab some coffee at Wish You Were Here, a cool local spot in Pomona or Some Crust in Claremont, CA. The metro link is near so we would head out to L.A. and visit some art museums like the Broad museum or LACMA. Definitely going to the beach, either Newport or Balboa. The most fun would be small businesses that focus on providing authentic food, products and services. People and places that represent culture, art, and music are definitely at the forefront.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mother for giving me life, my father for doing his best, everyone who supports my artistry, and to all the parents who trust me to teach their children. I am grateful for my family & friends for checking up on me.
