We had the good fortune of connecting with Naomi Coe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naomi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Little Crown Interiors was started back in 2008. At that time, there really weren’t any resources for expecting families on nursery design other than the local baby furniture store and a few catalog companies. It was clear that there was a hole in the market. The nursery has its own set of unique challenges which families needed help navigating.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being an entrepreneur is never easy, and we’ve definitely had our challenges over the years. We’ve had years where we were worried about not getting enough clients, and years where we were regularly working in celebrity homes. I’m so proud of the successes we’ve had. One of the pinnacle moments for me was getting a book deal with Simon & Schuster. Writing and publishing a book was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done professionally, but one I’m the most proud of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I grew up in Southern California and it will always be my home. I love exploring and finding little hidden restaurants, nature spots or even a neighborhood with interesting architecture. I went to college near the Orange Circle, so that’s a place that I always love to visit. There are so many great little stores and restaurants and it’s constantly evolving.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I first started Little Crown Interiors, I worked with a partner and she was instrumental in everything we did. I learned so much from her and she was the heart behind the company for those earlier years.
