Meet Grave Waves | Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Grave Waves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Grave, why did you pursue a creative career?
We all came from different backgrounds and just kind of fell into this. Hanna started Grave Waves and it just kept growing from there. One person led to another, and eventually it clicked. It wasn’t some master plan. We just wanted to make music that felt real, with people we actually liked being around. We’ve all done other projects before, but this one stuck. It’s loud, it’s fun, and it gives us something to look forward to. That’s pretty much why we do it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It definitely hasn’t been easy but we’ve stuck with it. We’ve all been playing music for a long time in one way or another and staying consistent has been a big part of what’s kept Grave Waves going. What sets us apart is that we don’t try to be anything we’re not. The music’s loud and a little unhinged which is totally us. We’re just coming off some really fun shows; Permanent Records Roadhouse, Santa Monica Pier 360 Beach Festival, and most recently at Soda Bar in San Diego. We’re also heading back into the studio in mid-July to record some new stuff that we’re really excited about. More music on the way and we’re just hyped to keep building this thing and sharing it with people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a best friend was visiting, first stop would probably be Hinano’s in Venice for burgers and beers, then maybe head to Tiny’s Hi-Dive to hang for a bit and see where the night takes us. Daytime would be all about chilling by the beach, hitting a skate shop or thrift store, maybe grabbing tacos from Tito’s or something quick off Washington. At night, catch a show somewhere. Permanent Records Roadhouse is a go-to, and Lodge Room always books solid stuff. The rest is usually some mix of weird parties and bad decisions. LA’s got this energy that makes anything feel possible, even when nothing’s going on. There’s always something weird and cool happening here, you just gotta know where to look (or who to text).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big shoutout to anyone who’s ever come to a show, streamed a song, bought merch, or even just told a friend about us. We wouldn’t be doing this without the people who’ve supported us along the way. Playing music is something we love but it means a whole lot more when people actually connect with it. So yeah, thank you! You keep this thing alive.
