We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
You’ll never accomplish anything great in life without taking a little bit of risk. Career, love, art—whatever it is—it all requires risk. And if we’re willing to throw it all to the wind and just see what happens, sometimes life changing things can unfold… and sometimes not. But that’s the beauty of risk taking…you never know unless you jump in with both feet and just pray to God that you land.

Luckily, taking the risk of starting my own business and building it from the ground up —not knowing what would come of it… it has allowed me to provide a life for my kids and myself that I never thought imaginable. It has given me the space to be creative, to connect, and to touch people’s lives through visual imagery.

And it’s just getting started….

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I grew up pretty obsessed with poetry…I used to read and write it constantly. It helped me get through some really tough times in my life. So from the very beginning, I knew that if I was going to do this, I wanted my art to help people in the same way.

I wanted people to look at my photos and feel something…whether that be love, laughter, empathy, healing, or even a little bit of sadness. If my photos don’t evoke something deeper, then what’s the point?

So, that meant letting go of perfection and going all in on emotion…diving deep into people’s stories. If we can take the time to get to know each other, and you allow me to truly see your heart, I believe that’s when my best work comes to light.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
California has a way of being a one stop shop for every type of scenery you could ever want, especially Southern California…so this is tough haha.
First we are going to the beach! Grab a couple of brews and some tacos and just chill to the beautiful sound of the waves with Stick Figure playing in the background. Maybe even a bonfire afterwards.
Wineries in Temecula are also a MUST…so beautiful and relaxing.
Then…we are hitting Joshua Tree for a quick photo op at the national park. Desert sunsets just hit different!
Can’t forget an Angels baseball game or concert! So many arenas and live music at the tip of our fingers!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost…God. The only reason I started this business is because He told me to. I woke up one day with this crazy idea to become a photographer, and He told me to take a leap of faith and trust in Him and His plan. So I did and I’ve never looked back.

Secondly, my kids. Every single thing I do in my life is for them. They’re watching my every move, so it’s important that they see me pouring my heart not only into them but to also into following my dream…which just so happens to be my career. They give me the drive to keep going. Not just with photography, but with everything in life. Ugh, I just love them so flipping much!

My friends and family have played a pivotal part in my career too. Being a single mom, it can be tough leaving my kids with someone while I’m at a wedding. Idk what I’d do without my village!

And let’s not forget my biggest hype women, Alex from @Growwildphotography and Bernadette from @Bernadetteannettephotography. They have guided me, encouraged me, and shown me so much love along the way.
