Meet Zack Blum | Real Estate Broker / General Contractor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zack Blum and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zack, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my brand was seeing a challenge and disconnect between homeowners or real estate investors who weren’t properly educated by their consultants on liabilities and limitations but rather sold on speculation and assumptions of visions and dreams which couldn’t be translated into reality. I have formed 2 companies as a real estate brokerage and general construction design and build firm to close the gap that majority of our clients face when not receiving diligent, competent, factual, knowledgable, and professional advice. We now have sold over $200,000,000 and counting in properties throughout Los Angeles real estate and have worked on a handful helping solve structural deficiencies, poor quality material and craftsmanship, as well dealing with city violations or unpermitted improvements performed not up to todays building standards and codes.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started as a real estate agent straight out of high school meanwhile studying business in college. After years of many successful transactions and satisfied clients I shifted into working with savvy real estate investors and assisting with project management and design for construction and improvements to the properties with calculated and strategic approach after careful analysis of the real estate market demand with return on investment to achieve the desired outcome on a per project basis. This was a challenging hill to climb and many obstacles to achieve, but the purpose behind my approach and my ambitions to succeed led me to keep focused and face the issues as they arose. I learned that not every project and client is the same and you need to be flexible when working with clients and funds to make sure you allocate proper attention and care towards each transaction to ensure each project is turned over and delivered to full satisfaction.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend landed on a Friday afternoon, I would drove him straight to La Jolla Cove as the sun was sets, seals scattered on the rocks, and the water looked almost unreal. Dinner would at George’s at the Cove—ocean views, fresh seafood, and that perfect balance of elevated but easy. The next morning, we would keep it slow with brunch at The Cottage La Jolla, then wander through the village. By the afternoon, we would visit Windansea Beach and the La Jolla Tide Pools—quieter, more raw, the kind of spots that feel like you found them, not just visited them. Dinner at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood brought the energy back up. Sunday, we would go up the coast to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve—cliffside hikes, endless ocean views. We ended at Torrey Pines Gliderport, watching paragliders float through the sunset. We lastly would close the trip at The Marine Room, timing it with the tide, to watch the waves crash against the windows mid-dinner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A great friend and colleague of mine for years who is also a licensed real estate broker and general contractor (Roi Abarbanel) has been the backbone of my rising and the lasting support system that has spread inspiration and ambition through me and my desire to achieve my dreams of doing what I love meanwhile solving problems for others and helping my community.
