We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathan Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathan, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Helping people makes me happy. I guess in a way it makes me feel more useful and needed but I like seeing peoples smiles and appreciation when I help them with something. Sharing my knowledge is especially fulfilling as I wish that someone had shared their knowledge with me at times when I was younger.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a Power Plant Engineer specializing in power generation for the past 20 years. I have used my engineering and mechanical background to modify and build high performance cars over the years. I have helped manage high performance automotive shops over the years as well. My specialty has been the Corvette platform from engine modifications to chassis and suspension setup. Through driving on and off the racetrack I have learned to optimize a vehicles suspension to maximize its handling performance and driver involvement. I have also studied aerodynamics and have a certification in motorsport aerodynamics that have help me apply said knowledge to both street and track vehicles. I have always enjoyed learning as much as possible about how to improve the performance of vehicles in different aspects and I especially enjoy helping others improve their own vehicles and seeing the joy that that brings them. Im also very proud of working with Sociology of Cars and the Rice and Beans podcast as it has giving me an avenue to push driver etiquette and education to our listeners. The podcast work has allowed us to address issues within the automotive community to improve them for the better and benefit of all those involved.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them on a nice drive on a windy mountain road and eventually end up on a beach. Id enjoy a nice bonfire in evening while telling stories and enjoying some whiskey together. I love the local mountains and also our beaches. I enjoy art and visiting museums so that would on the itinerary along with dinner at a good steak house. But at the end I enjoy a cocktail at my home while playing vinyl records with friends the most.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like shoutout the many individuals who have shared their knowledge with me over the years and most recently to Sociology of Everything for giving me an opportunity to give back by sharing my knowledge with others.
