Meet Dr. Ahava Chanti | Board Certifired Psychiatrist & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Ahava Chanti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Ahava, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Over time my understanding of work-life balance has evolved from trying to “separate” my roles to learning how to integrate them in a meaningful way. As a psychiatrist, musician, and wellness educator, I used to think balance meant giving equal time to everything. I quickly learned that was impossible. I see balance as making sure the work I do in each space supports my overall purpose and well-being.
Medicine can be emotionally demanding, especially in mental health, so music became a form of restoration, grounding, and connection. At the same time, my work as a physician gave deeper meaning to my music and wellness offerings. Today, I intentionally blend both worlds through lectures, live music experiences, sound meditation, and wellness conferences that focus on emotional healing, resilience, and human connection.
I’ve also learned that balance changes with different seasons of life. Some periods require intense focus and discipline, while others require rest, reflection, and creativity. I no longer chase perfection. Instead, I prioritize sustainability, presence, and creating experiences that nourish both myself and the people I serve. What makes balance possible is being intentional about boundaries, self-care, and purpose. Whether I’m speaking at a conference, performing music, or educating about mental wellness, I want the work to feel authentic and restorative rather than just another task to do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art lives at the intersection of healing, music, science, and human connection. As a psychiatrist, musician, wellness educator, and founder of Uscape Rejuvenation, I create experiences that are designed not only to entertain, but to restore people emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. My work blends live instrumentation, performative meditation, sound healing, storytelling, and mental wellness education into immersive experiences that help people reconnect with themselves.
What sets my work apart is that it comes from both clinical knowledge and lived experience. I understand mental health from the perspective of a physician, but I also understand pain, resilience, creativity, and transformation on a deeply personal level. Music was one of the first places where I found refuge growing up after losing my mother at a young age. Over time, I realized that the same thing that helped heal me could also help others. That realization became the foundation of my art and my brand.
Professionally, my journey has been anything but traditional or easy. I was raised in poverty, faced significant emotional hardships early in life, and had to navigate spaces where there were not many people who looked like me or moved the way I did creatively. Building a career in medicine alone requires discipline and sacrifice, but stepping into music, wellness, and public creativity while maintaining credibility in psychiatry requires another level of courage. I constantly integrate paths between contrasting worlds such as science and spirituality, professionalism and artistry, and structure and creativity.
What helped me overcome those challenges was learning that I did not have to choose one identity over another. I could honor all parts of myself. Instead of shrinking to fit into one box, I began creating my own lane. I stopped asking whether music and medicine belonged together and started demonstrating how powerfully they can work together to support healing and emotional wellness.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that authenticity is more sustainable than performance. People connect most deeply when you represent truth, purpose, and vulnerability. I’ve also learned the importance of protecting your peace, staying grounded, and allowing yourself to evolve without guilt. Success for me is about impact, alignment, and creating spaces where people feel seen, safe, inspired, and emotionally restored.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that healing does not always have to happen in silence or sterile spaces. Healing can happen through rhythm, movement, sound, breath, conversation, community, and art. My mission is to help bridge wellness, music, culture, and mental health in a way that feels accessible, soulful, and transformative. Whether I’m lecturing at a wellness conference, leading a sound meditation, or performing original music, I want people to leave feeling more connected to themselves than when they arrived.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Los Angeles for a week, the trip would feel inspiring, soulful, creative, and restorative with a mix of culture, wellness, music, incredible food, and unforgettable energy. I love experiences that help people feel both alive and grounded, so the itinerary would reflect that balance.
We would start the mornings slowly with ocean air and herbal tea with a sunrise walk at Venice Beach or Malibu Pier followed by brunch somewhere beautiful and relaxed. I love places that feel artistic and full of personality, such as The Butcher’s Daughter or Gracias Madre because the atmosphere in LA is just as important as the food.
During the day, discovering the iconic LA experiences with places that feel creative and inspiring. Spending time at The Getty for art and architecture, visiting The Broad for contemporary creativity, and exploring neighborhoods like Silver Lake and the Arts District because they have such a unique mix of music, fashion, art, and culture. We would immerse ourselves in a sound bath, rooftop yoga session, or a holistic and elegant spa day.
At night, the trip would become more musical and cinematic with live music at places like Hollywood Bowl or an intimate jazz lounge where the energy feels soulful and timeless. LA has this beautiful contrast where you can experience high glamour and deep creativity in the same night. One evening would include a scenic drive through the hills at sunset followed by dinner somewhere with live music and conversation.
What excites me most about Los Angeles is that it feels like a city where creativity, reinvention, wellness, and entertainment all coexist. Some of the most interesting people are artists, healers, entrepreneurs, musicians, and storytellers who are building unconventional paths and blending disciplines in innovative ways. I’m naturally drawn to spaces where art and healing intersect, so I would spend the week exploring experiences that inspire reflection, connection, beauty, and imagination rather than just checking off tourist attractions.
For me, the best part of LA is the beautiful landscape and the feeling of elevation. The city has an energy that encourages people to dream bigger, create fearlessly, and evolve into new versions of themselves.
