Meet Morgan Tomasetti | Actress, Singer, Dancer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Tomasetti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk taking is perhaps the most essential thing to do when you are working toward your dreams. Big dreams and goals must be supported by actions, and any action that will actually get you to where you want to be is likely out of your comfort zone, thus involves some sort of risk. At first, this seems like a scary thing, but the more risks I take, the more rewards I seem to reap. Fear of failure=no risk taking. No risks= no change. No movement. No progress.
I moved out to the big city to chase my dreams fresh out of college, and that was a huge risk– I didn’t have my housing or even a day job lined up. I didn’t know anyone or anything about city life, coming straight from the suburbs of Ohio. From the big move to auditioning for my first broadway show, to spending thousands of dollars on headshots, classes, Actor profiles, you name it– there was always an element of risk involved.
There was never any guarantee that anything would work out, I just hoped and prayed for the best, and did what I could in the meantime to put myself out there in any way I could. Even and especially when it felt far-fetched. In doing this, there is a position of humility and surrender I ended up taking on– which makes every success that much sweeter. It’s magical and thrilling to see how everything works itself out in ways that are better than I could’ve ever planned or imagined.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think, as an actress, what really sets me apart from others is just simply who I am. I do my best to just show up as my goofy, crazy, loud, authentic self and put my whole heart into whatever I do, and that alone is what makes my art unique. I think that in itself is the big lesson I’ve learned. That just me, being me, is magic. That nothing is really worth stressing that hard over, because what is meant for me is already mine, so my job is to enjoy the journey and help others along the way.
My first audition to get into my BFA college program? Rejected. I worked all that much harder because of that. When I had to get surgery that could have been career-ending if it didn’t go well? Made me that much more grateful for what gifts I have, and that much more determined to take care of myself. That relationship that crashed and burned and left me heartbroken? Made me realize how strong I am. Every obstacle is just a doorway of opportunity.
I spent too much time trying to be whatever it was I thought the person on the other side of the table wanted me to be. After countless auditions/rejections, there came a point where I just stopped caring if anyone thought I was “good enough”, or just plain nuts, because I didn’t have the energy for all that anymore.
At this point, I could talk about being on billboards or starring as leads in feature films or having a song on Spotify, but I think what I’m the most proud of is just the fact that I am still going. You never fail until you stop getting back up. I want the world to know that all things are possible to those who believe. Dare to dream big and put in the work–and never give up!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, my ideal week in LA is a mix of beach days, creativity, movement, good food, and a little spontaneity. I’d take my best friend everywhere from Malibu sunsets and Venice bike rides to dance classes at Millennium Dance Complex or PLAYGROUND LA, hiking at Griffith Observatory or Runyon Canyon Park, thrifting around Silver Lake, and long healthy brunches at places like Great White and Cafe Gratitude. I love days in LA where you can start your day in nature, end it at the beach, and somehow fit in art, music, and inspiring conversations in between.
I think the most exciting thing about LA is the energy of the people. Everyone’s creating something– films, music, fashion, businesses, ideas– and there’s this underlying sense of possibility everywhere you go. I love it! Some of my favorite moments are the simplest ones: driving down the PCH at sunset, discovering a tiny live music venue, spending hours at The Getty, grabbing late-night dessert after a rooftop dinner, or just sitting on the beach talking about life. To me, the best LA experiences feel inspiring without trying too hard- healthy, fun, artistic, outdoorsy, and a little cinematic of course.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I 1000% would not be even close to where I am today if it weren’t for all the people in my life who have supported me along the way. Huge shoutout to my mom, family, my managers, agents, my teachers and professors, my friends I’ve met along the way, my amazing church community, every artist that has ever inspired me, every random person that has come up to encourage me. At the end of the day, all glory to God.
