Meet Roz Stanley | Actor, Writer, Dancer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Roz Stanley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roz Stanley, why did you pursue a creative career?
This endeavor of this type of career has pursued me as much as I have pursued it. I think it was more about answering the call because the life of an artist is a calling. It’s not linear. It’s not the type of career where you graduate and get the next degree to move up the ladder of that industry. I decided to pursue it because I can trust what I don’t see. We don’t know what our career will look like tomorrow, next year, or five years from now in the arts because the arts are changing, and we as artists are changing. This creative life fits me because I am always changing, and I am comfortable with that.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Currently, I am most excited about several different projects I am in. 1) “Hollywood Murders Speakeasy” — an immersive craft cocktail theatre experience written by Ashley Barnette that just had its premiere performance in Long Beach in June 2026. It’s such a beautifully woven story with unique characters that transcends the power of live performance. 2) “1986-6-6” –an interactive immersive live theatre experience that opens in Culver City in September 2026. The show will have a four month run through December 2026. It’s such a vibrant show set in 1986, with twists and turns that gives the audience a chance to connect with the actors as well as fellow audience members. 3) “Fiddle, Faddle, Fortune” which can be streamed on VIM. It’s an indie comedy feature directed by Robert Michael. I play the lovely Loretta Katrina.
This journey has certainly not been easy. If it was, everyone would be doing it. The lessons I have learned have made the challenges worth it. I know more about me and more about life. I have found that hard work actually does pay off. The sacrifices are worth it. As an artist, you have to live your life–and I think that is something we are all doing, is learning how to live our lives in different seasons.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s Los Angeles, so there is always something to do. I would certainly go to take my best friend to a play at least one of the evenings. There are so many theatres to choose from. I’d also take them to an improv show or bring them to my improv team’s show. I’m on the House Team “Bucket!” at the Pack Theatre, and it’s always a fun time! I’d definitely make sure we grabbed a coffee either Priscilla’s in Toluca Lake or Romancing the Bean in Burbank. While we grab coffee, I’d walk around Magnolia Bouleveard looking at the shops. I think some of the most exciting people are walking on Magnolia Boulevard–the locals. I’ve always found that locals have the most exciting stories. They aren’t trying to impress anyone, they’re just living and connecting. I would also make sure we ate at least once at In ‘N Out. I mean, come on! I’d also take some time to hike Griffith Park. It’s so lovely outdoors. I would also take an afternoon at Santa Monica Beach watching the mountains right by the beach. Of course, I’d also take them to grab some tea and dessert at The Witch’s Cottage in NoHo. There’s just so much to do!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would shoutout a couple of my professors from theatre: Rebecca Phillips & Corrie Danieley. I would also shoutout a past acting coach: Vicky Saye Henderson. These theatre professionals took time to coach me and teach me so much not just about acting, but how life as an actor is so unique, sacred, and precious. They didn’t only teach me, they also lived the life of an artist. They set the example in their lives of who an actor can be and how that life can be lived.
