We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Casso and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I got really sick in February and after that happened I knew I had to slow down. I was just grinding away and working working working. I was trying to pay debt off and keep the cash flow coming in but at the expense of my health. My parents both told me to slow down or I’d get sick and bam! I got sick. It felt like it took a month to really land back on my feet & I decided then that I really need to learn to balance my life. I need to really pursue my acting career at 100 %, instead of just working these odd jobs at 100 %.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an aspiring actress who hasn’t gotten her big break yet! I am a mix of Zooey Deschanel & Goldie Hawn and Alison Brie – but also just uniquely me! I am pursuing comedy- sitcoms, specifically. It’s the one thing that I feel comes naturally. I think my sense of humor really stands out. I try and find the humor in life because otherwise, what’s the point? Life is hard! Smile! Laugh! I say random things and always have a story and people find me entertaining!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooo! So much to do! I would definitely whisk them away to the beach ! From Malibu to the Santa Monica pier to Laguna beach! I’d also take them Hiking- there are lot of hikes around my area here in Santa Monica that aren’t overly crowded and I love the coastline and city views! I love el coyote and the farmers market for some good bites! I also love Mel’s diner- it’s my fave! We’d also venture to Beverly Hills to see rodeo drive! It’s just so fun to see all the fashion! Judy’s cafe has such yummy food too for our lunch break! And Burbank- I love magnolia where they have tons of vintage shops & Halloweentown! Halloween is my favorite holiday and that store is always such a treat! Pinocchio’s Italian spot would be our break spot! So many places to see! Gah!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would honestly say my friends and family and my fiancé. Yes, I’m newly engaged! Whenever I want to throw the towel in they always tell me to keep going and that I belong in California and that my dreams will happen. I have doubts nearly daily , it’s just a struggle! But so many have my back and see it in me that I keep trudging along!
