We had the good fortune of connecting with Anjali Rajpal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anjali, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
The most important thing is to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve and faith in its possibility. You ultimately have to have a true passion and drive for it. When you have a strong enough desire to achieve that goal, you look at any obstacles as tests. They are there to see if you are strong enough to not let anything pull you off track.

When I was in undergrad at the University of Michigan, I was in the honors program and took too many challenging courses together my first semester of freshman year. In addition, I took on a leadership role in student government and joined a sorority. I was spread a bit thin which affected my exam scores. I met up with a college counselor for guidance and she assured me there was no way I would ever achieve my goal of getting into medical school or dental school. Instead of getting discouraged by her dismal outlook for me, I persevered and focused on my science and art curriculum. Three years later, I proved her wrong by getting into a top five dental school.

One of the most inspirational people in the world to me is Stephen Hawking because despite all his physical challenges, he surmounts them with the incredible power of his mind. This is a profound quote from him in a video interview that I watched, “We must all do the best we can in whatever situation we’re in. Never give up.” If you truly want to achieve something, you should not give up until you get there. Keep your eye on the prize and jump the hurdles.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career path is constantly evolving as I grow and develop myself as a practitioner. I am always excited to learn new things about cosmetic dentistry, oral and complete health. To this I add an element of my artistic perspective.

Building a patient base from scratch in Beverly Hills seemed to be insurmountable challenge due to its competitive atmosphere. However, with the support of the community and my patients trust in my skills and integrity, I grew my practice over time. I am now stepping into ownership of my own practice.

I believe it is good to do things that challenge you because that is the only way you can truly grow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have lived in Beverly Hills since I first moved here for residency at Cedars-Sinai after dental school. This city has been my stomping ground for years. I love walking around and popping into some of my favorite restaurants that are all walking distance from my home. They include Spagos, Mastros, E. Baldi, Il Cielo, and Wally’s.

I enjoy checking out some of the art galleries near me such as Galerie Michael on Rodeo Dr, and some of the museums like the Getty Villa, the LACMA, Broad and MOCA. I am fascinated by astronomy and frequent the Griffith observatory as well. Some of my favorite nature hikes are Franklin Canyon, Los Leones, Paseo Miramar and Tree People. Cruising up PCH along the ocean coast to Malibu is always refreshing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think the most influential mentor I had along the path of my career was an elderly Holistic dentist named Dr Ravins. He opened my eyes to the miraculous ways a body could heal itself energetically and through holistic healing methods. As a dentist I address and treat issues of the oral cavity, however, I try to incorporate awareness of complete body health to make sure oral health and health of the rest of the body are in harmony. My family, friends and colleagues have all been there for me along the way to support me and encourage me to follow my dreams.
