We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Fitzburgh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
We are a real estate team that loves animals and had a vision to find a way to combine our efforts in real estate and help save the lives of homeless animals at the same time… It took our team quite a while to figure it all out with some failure along the way… Initially we would bring out rescue pet to our open houses and try to combine the open house with a rescue adoption event… Turns out that is not a great idea for a number of reasons and we sort of crashed and burned with that approach… In the end, however, we realized that real estate agents can raise awareness that “fostering saves rescue pets” without spending any extra time and incorporate their love and passion for rescues into their normal real estate routine:) Real estate agents all across the country are embracing the idea of “REAL ESTATE AGENTS TO THE RESCUE” and becoming members of our non-profit organization www.RErescue.org
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
While my “day job” is being the founder of Brokers Trust Real Estate Group, my passion is the non-profit organization that our team founded in 2017 called: “REAL ESTATE AGENTS TO THE RESCUE.” We are creating a national coalition of real estate agents who are animal lovers with a mission to raise awareness that “fostering saves rescue pets” and grow the foster volunteer community. For the past 3-1/2 years our real estate team has been using our real estate platform to raise awareness that “fostering saves rescue pets” and realized that Realtors are the “perfect messenger” to be part of this awareness campaign and help save the lives of homeless animals. Realtors are effective communicators, love to network and create great social media content – what could be better for an awareness campaign than a community of real estate agents to “get the word out?” Our goal is to grow our membership to be 24,000 members strong by the end of 2024 and to share our message that “fostering saves rescue pets” with over 80 million households… An awareness campaign of that scale will save the lives of thousands and thousands and thousands of homeless animals! If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is an easy question to answer: When visiting Los Angeles, I recommend that you visit every single dog park and rescue and shelter in the city and ADOPT a homeless doggie or kittie while you are visiting! :))
