Creating artwork is not just an act of self-expression; it is a profound form of communication that bridges the present with the past, connecting us with the creative spirits of our predecessors throughout history. When I engage in the process of making art, I am reminded that I am never truly alone. Each stroke of the brush, each mark on the canvas, is a dialogue with the countless artists who came before me, a continuation of their legacy, and a testament to the enduring human desire to connect and share our experiences across time. “Believe in yourself.”
An affirmation that is very undervalued. In any profession you choose, you’ll have phases when you’re on top of your game and phases where you’ll be demotivated and start to doubt yourself. You’ll start to question if all the time and effort, will be worth it in the end.
It’s important to establish a realistic vision of where you see yourself in the career you choose and tying your affirmation and your vision together. Read more>>

My favorite quote is, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” by Hippocrates. Often referred to as the “Father of Medicine,” Hippocrates emphasized the importance of diet in maintaining health. This quote resonates deeply with me, especially given the current state of our health system. It challenges us to reflect on how far we have strayed from this fundamental principle and confronts the complex political landscape of nutrition today. Read more>>

“It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.” This mindset of taking action unapologetically has given us the confidence to make connections with those we admire and learn a lot about the music industry. It’s a mantra that has allowed us to seize opportunities to meet a lot of cool people and have a lot of great experiences that we otherwise might’ve missed out on. Read more>>

Embrace the unknown. For me and my studio practice, it’s important that I flirt with uncertainty and questioning. If I start to feel too comfortable with the moves I make then I start to dislike the work since it would feel too formulaic or predictable. The scary part about befriending my doubts is not knowing where it would take me. On the other hand, play and experimentation is very important to me. Read more>>

My favorite quote has always been the Serenity Prayer. “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.” It has a religious origin, but I have never really viewed it that way. Although, I did grow up Catholic, and this was one of my mom’s favorite sayings. Anytime I was stressed, she would emphasize the meaning of the Serenity Prayer to me. It applies to essentially every situation imaginable. Read more>>

For me, my favorite quote also comes from my favorite movie of all time: Lost in Translation. The quote is said by Bob Harris, the actor going through a bit of a mid life crisis in the film, and he says “the more you know who you are and what you want, the less you let things upset you”. This always stuck with me and I think as an actor, as an artist and creative, we tend to let things easily upset us. Whether it’s being rejected from an audition we wanted to nail or being told we’re too plain, too tall, too whatever they wanna tell us, a lot can get under our skin. Read more>>
