My mantra over the last few years has been “do it scared.” Lately, I have been doing things that are way outside of my comfort zone, exciting opportunities that give me butterflies in my stomach! I’ve learned that fear is not something to run away from necessarily, rather something to explore. Read more>>

when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it. – The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho ✨ As a child, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho had a huge impact on me. This book not spoke to me about karma and the signs of the universe. I believe that if you really believe in yourself and really strive to accomplish your goals, you automatically see all the pieces of your puzzle fixing in together. Read more>>

This quote by Banksy really resonated with me this year: “If you get tired, learn to rest, not quit.” 2021 was a year of ups and downs and to be honest, I came out of it burned out and exhausted. Going into 2022, I told myself that this year, I will learn to set boundaries and learn to take care of my mental health. Being a small business owner, rest is not always at the top of my priority list, but what I’m learning is that it is just as important as all the other tasks on my to-do list. Read more>>

“Cages or wings, which do you prefer? Ask the birds Fear or love, baby? Don’t say the answer Actions speak louder than words.” -“Tick,Tick… Boom!” by Jonathan Larson I watched “Rent” two years ago during my last semester at art college; at that moment, it made me reflect on why I should keep making art. It wasn’t until after I watched the movie adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s rock monologue “Tick, Tick…Boom!” directed by Lin Manuel Miranda, that I finally learned more about him. His role as an artist, activist, and storyteller, and how he inspired countless people. Read more>>

“There are two kinds of magic- love and color.” I cam across this beautiful quote printed on a very old marketing postcard for a, now defunct, antique framing company about 6 years ago. It immediately resonated and felt special to me! I tried desperately to find the author, or any other instance of this quote online, to no avail. Without any other context, I felt as though it were meant for me to find and adopt! As a photographer, I feel this encapsulates the two types of magic I try to bring into every job. Read more>>

“The air of ideas is the only air worth breathing.” — Newland Archer on good conversation in The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton I spend most of my time living in the air of ideas. It’s a place where I can daydream and imagine endless what-if possibilities for my work. Filmmaking is the ultimate exchange of ideas. In the space of two hours or so, stories can offer opinions, raise questions, and challenge assumptions. My favorite films hold space for thought, interpretation, and meaning. What a beautiful place to live! Read more>>

There are two quotes I always resort back to when I question my career choice. Jim Carrey said at the commencement speech in 2014 at Maharishi International University: “You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.” Comedian Bill Burr has a quote with a similar sentiment: “Realize that sleeping on a futon when you’re 30 is not the worst thing. You know what’s worse, sleeping in a king bed next to a wife you’re not really in love with but for some reason you married, and you got a couple kids, and you got a job you hate. Read more>>
