We had the good fortune of connecting with Domenick Nati and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Domenick, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk taking is the biggest determining factor of whether you will achieve success or failure, Behind every success story is a long line of failures and rejection. When I started my venture in the entertainment industry, I had hundreds of doors slam in my face before one opened, but I kept going. The reason I continued is because of a life motto I created before I even started my journey. I told myself, “I will always fear regret more than rejection” and I have lived by that creed throughout my life and career.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the President of Nati Celebrity Services PR Firm and the host of The Domenick Nati Show. As a publicist I believe what sets me apart is transparency. So many people in the entertainment industry are afraid to be honest. My clients appreciate that I tell them up front what to expect and what is a long shot. Also, I try to show my efforts. If I reach out and get a “no” then I’ll tell you. It’s not what you want to hear but we tried and people appreciate that more than lies or empty promises. Although I do have a high success rate at delivering to my clients, I’m always up front that some things are out of our control, but I will do my best. I try to always under promise and over deliver and then we celebrate together. What I’m most proud of is that everything we’ve done is verifiable. Instead of me having to convince you I have certain contacts, you can look it up for yourself. You can do a Google search of my name, look up my IMDb, and check my social media and determine for yourself if I’m the right fit for your PR needs. How I got to where I am today is ACTIVITY. That’s what I tell people. Always be doing something to get your brand and name out there. Create an ad, reach out to people, make a funny video, etc. Just do something to get the world’s attention as often as you can. The biggest challenge to overcome is your own ego. Sometimes you got to put your neck on the line and make yourself vulnerable and you fail. So what? Now you know what not to do and failure is the only way to gather that information. My brand is to be real. Everyone sees through sales pitches and it makes people feel uncomfortable. I let my work and reputation do the selling.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Typically when I take my friends places it’s to celebrity events like award shows, parties, and sporting events. I go to the Super Bowl parties every year. It’s fun to take friends with me because I get bored easily but if it’s a new environment for them it motivates me to make the most of it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Sometimes in life you find your strength from someone you DON’T want to be like. This was the case in my life. When I was in my early twenties I met an older man named John. He was a great guy, but he never took any risks in his life. He stayed at the same job, in his hometown, and had a long list of things he wanted to do but didn’t. When I heard him explain this is scared the hell out of me. One day I’ll be old too and the thought of living with the regret of not following my dreams was frightening. That is where I drew my inspiration. Not everyone acheives thier dreams, but I would never forgive myself if I never tried.
