At one point I was also an outsider. I believed that once you were in, you were in. I thought that it was going to be easy and all you had to do was get there. I’ve since realized that is not the case. You still have to do the work, you still have to show up. When your brand is you, there’s rarely a clear line between work and life especially in a city like Los Angeles. Everything becomes content, every outing feels like an opportunity, and you start to carry this unspoken pressure to always be ‘on.’ There are moments where I’ll be getting ready to go out and feel this guilt creeping in — like, ‘Should I be filming this?
