We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime Krupnick Geffen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaime, were your parents strict, free-spirited, what sort of parenting style did they have? How do you think their parenting style affected you?
I was blessed with the most incredibly generous parents… generous with both their time & affection. As an only child, I have been lucky to have a mom and dad who I was able to grow close to since day one. We also enjoyed traveling together during all the phases of my life, on annual trips to Hawaii, frequent trips to La Quinta and even a high school graduation trip around Europe. All of these life experiences taught me so much about how I want to parent and how important quality time together really is for me and my son. On a professional level, my dad has been an entrepreneur from the get go and my idol. He went to law school at USD (where I attended undergraduate school), passed the state bar exam and jumped in head first. He has had his own Personal Injury Law Corporation for over 45 years and is still working hard to this day. I look up to him and strive to be as hard working, personable and successful in my own job and with my own company. I also do my best to teach this work ethic to my son… he is proud of his mom for working hard and creating a thriving business. My mothers huge heart and ability to help others is ingrained in who I am and what I long to be as a human. In my personal & professional life, I am always doing my best to think outside the box and help others to succeed with any type of support I may be able to provide.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My career as an event producer has been, for the most part, an exciting and ever changing landscape. I have learned so many invaluable lessons along the way from my assistant temp days at a large studio, to my various colleagues and vendors while owning two separate businesses with very different goals and most importantly from my clients. I started out in Special Events, just after college graduation at Sony Pictures Television as a temporary assistant to the VP of Special Events. In this position, I learned all about the different types of events and how to plan an event from an idea to the execution. What a thrilling backdrop to be on the Sony Pictures Studio lot working on everything from Corporate Events & Retreats to Televsion Launch & Premiere Parties to Red Carpet Screenings & Events. I spent the first 9 years of my career at SPT, working my way up the ranks to VP of Special Events & Talent Relations until my eventual departure to partner in my first company, YourBASH! YourBASH! started off with a bang as my then business partner and I were lucky enough to partner with FOX Television early on in the American Idol years. In our first few years, we produced their Top 12 and Finale Party each year, along with several other high end television events. The pinnacle event for YourBASH! will always be the Foundation Polo Challenge at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. This was a star studded event for the Duke & Duchess (William & Kate) with a full day of polo and events, sponsored by Tiffany & Co., Royal Salute, Audi and many more. Celebrity Chef, Giada De Laurentiis partnered with us to create an over the top luncheon in advance of the polo tournament. Personally, I had the opportunity to work with all different levels of National & International security to make sure our honored guests were safe but most importantly, raised money for their Foundation & had an enjoyable time… truly a once in a lifetime experience to work with Royalty. In 2016, it was time to launch out on my own and Geffen Events Inc. was born. Similar to YourBASH!, Geffen Events designed & produced upscale and top-tier events in Los Angeles & New York, and even at times, internationally. However, what I had learned from my experience in the larger company was that I was missing the smaller, more focused branded events. I wanted to touch and feel and create a space for clients to get their message out to the consumer in a more direct fashion. Many beautifully curated events, design partners and years later….that brings me to today. Formerly Geffen Events, INK Events and Design is a rebranded full service event production and design firm based in Los Angeles, CA though operating globally. INK is backed by over 30 years of experience and skilled to deliver top-tier events for any occasion. Our passion for designing and producing landmark events comes from the honor and responsibility of knowing that we are creating memories which will last a lifetime. We believe that your memories must be done right the first time. Simply put, your memories are worth writing in INK!

Although the recent quarantine and pandemic has “paused” the world of events, I still hold true to my love for this career and trust that, this too shall pass one day. Meanwhile, if you know me, you know that I do not like sitting still and waiting around. So, during this time, I have done a bit of a career pivot and have focused my attention to my other life long passion, real estate. I have been immersed for the past few months studying, via online courses, and testing for my real estate license. I am proud to say that I am following my dream of becoming an International Luxury Advisor with Engel & Völkers in Westlake Village. Real Estate, similar to Special Events, is a relationship business which has always been my strong suit. I thrive on other people’s energy and I am a student at heart, constantly learning by meeting new people and having conversations. I know I have landed in the right agency, as their core competencies are: Passion, Competence & Exclusivity! And better yet, I get to work in the area where I grew up and I now raise my own child… it’s pretty perfect all around. I count my blessings every day

In addition, my love for health & wellness keeps me grounded in my everyday lifestyle and I am taking nutrition courses, as well as carving out at least 60 minutes per day for exercise. This time in my life, as well as many others in the event industry, is a challenge that we did not see coming…. but together, we will one day all get it back on track and be able to celebrate together again!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout and recognize all of my amazing event vendor partners over the years…. thank you for always working so hard to help create extraordinary experiences for our clients…. you make us look good and we could not succeed without you!! Also, to my friends and family who believed in my new life path and career shift during some uncertain and crazy times… I appreciate your love and support.
