We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenn Reno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor to begin was my willingness to be completely open and vulnerable about myself and everything I had been through. When I stopped trying to filter my journey and make things look or sound “pretty” I not only found myself experiencing the greatest shift in emotional and physical healing but my path became really clear and I started attracting clients. These clients are on a journey that is similar to me they just need to be seen, loved, and understand that they are exactly where they are supposed to be. I always try to meet people where they are & in our work together either through Reiki/ Energy Healing or Meditation we create a clearer vision of what is to come. It took me a long time to really understand that I was worthy of happiness and peace within and when I got to that place of understanding it was like the veil came off. That is my hope for everyone of my clients, as I know it’s possible for each and everyone of us. We all just need a little support in getting there. Being a part of that support in someones life is the greatest gift.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Business is called Thicker Than Water Wellness. It started as a pressed juice company about 6 years ago and has evolved into something quite different than I ever expected. Because I had found so much relief from chronic pain and inflammatory disease through pressed juice and a change in diet I set out to help others. Then I found meditation and reiki healing and started to experience another level of healing not only physically but emotionally and spiritually. The emotional and spiritual component of healing was so life changing it completely shifted my relationship with chronic pain, it gave me my life back. I felt motivated and inspired to to learn more so I began studying Reiki Healing and Meditation and eventually became certified. I feel like I am able to connect with clients coming from a wide array of backgrounds as I have experienced so much in my life. As a child I experienced a lot of trauma and abuse, and as an adult I have found recovery from drug addiction, an eating disorder, depression that nearly killed me and navigated the waves of chronic pain for 25 years. I have found a deep appreciation for the journey and all the lessons I have been lucky enough to learn and grow from. Everything I have and love in my life today exists because of the trials and tribulations. I bring that gratitude for life into my work as a Meditation Teacher and Reiki Healer here in LA where I teach group classes and workshops at a couple different studios, to my clients who I work with in a private space, or now virtually around the world in distance healing sessions.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always try to take friends who are visiting on a hike to a labyrinth that sits below big rock formations with beautiful views in Malibu. I’d tell you where it is but I don’t want to attract anymore crowds than it already does. If you are meant to find it…someday you will. After the hike I almost almost always make a stop at Sunlife Organics in the Malibu Country Mart for a pressed juice or smoothie. I’ve yet to meet a person who isn’t a fan. For the ultimate chill we head to a meditation of course. I find the most healing at The Mindry in Malibu or Hallowed Ground in Marina Del Rey. These studios are gorgeous and along with incredible teachers and classes of all types their store fronts are full of goods from mostly local or California owned small businesses and promote peace and well being.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Living in severe chronic pain for over 25 years is a really important part of my story. My pain became my greatest teacher and is what led me to meditation and reiki healing. One of the most important people in that part of m journey is my neurosurgeon Dr. Amir Vokshoor. He witnessed me struggling with pain for years as I was in and out of recovering from spine and other orthopedic operations. His hopes for me a long time ago were that I could come to understand the emotional pain that was adding to physical pain that I could find some relief. I couldn’t understand what he meant in this for the longest time. Then I started to cultivate a meditation practice and within days I felt immense relief from the pain and was able to walk away from pain killers and now am able to turn to my breath for relief when the pain starts to get hold of me.
