We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Gonzales and Deniz King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica and Deniz, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We started Amethyst Event Productions to pursue our passion for the extraordinary. Our company began with a mission to develop a wedding planning company that celebrated each couples’ unique style and story. We saw a lack of creativity in the execution of weddings and a cookie-cutter approach, which inspired us to offer a different option. Ultimately, we know that all weddings are not one size fits all. It is essential for us to provide the highest level of service and attention to detail, which is why you’ll have two seasoned wedding planners with you from beginning to end. From our inception, we aimed to provide our clients with a proactive approach to planning. Our clients are investing so much time and money into their big day, so it’s our job to make sure we provide them with a flawless execution of their vision. Planning your wedding is such a personal experience, and we are here to guide you to help you bring your vision to life. We love getting to know our clients and hearing about them as a couple. Did you meet at a record store? Let’s get you a DJ that plays on vinyl! Do you love going to tiki bars, let’s add a chic tiki vibe to your decor. Our company also specializes in planning vegan and sustainable weddings. We are both passionate about sustainable and plant-based lifestyles and knew it was something we had to incorporate into our business. We’ve seen first hand how much waste is produced with one event, and through our years of experience, we’ve learned ways to cut down on that waste without compromising your design. We know that our clients are on different levels of their eco journey so we can make your wedding as sustainable you like. Hiring a wedding planner is such an important decision. Trust is the key ingredient to a successful planning experience. With that in mind, we always recommend you hire someone who understands your needs and who you can trust to execute your vision to your expectations. Our goal is to create a stress-free, enjoyable experience for our clients, and we want to handle all the difficult situations on your behalf. Once that happens, you can have fun planning the biggest day of your life!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At our core, we are a wedding planning company that promotes inclusion, love, and diversity. However, we are most proud of developing a company that specializes in planning vegan and sustainable weddings. We are both passionate about sustainable and plant-based lifestyles and knew it was something we had to incorporate into our business. On average, a wedding in Los Angeles with 100 – 200 guests produces around 500 pounds of waste. This waste ends up in landfills and in our oceans, and greatly impacts our environment and marine life. We have a passion for incorporating sustainability into events by minimizing waste, as well as promoting vegan and plant-focused weddings and events to lessen the impact on our planet. We love to work with our clients to create a wedding that is sustainable and plant-based without compromising design.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love to recommend staying at Mama Shelter in West Hollywood which also has a great rooftop bar! The hotel’s location also makes for a quick stop-over at Bluestone Lane for morning coffee followed by a trip to either the Getty or Getty Villa. Either location has unbeatable views and art! And ending your day with dinner at Gracias Madre or El Coyote is sure to please any crowd.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We are so thankful for our creative partners in the wedding industry. We’ve developed such strong relationships with so many different creative industry professionals, and are in awe of the robust support system we offer each other. One of our most supportive industry partners is Brandon Griewank of Fresh by Brandon. We’ve grown our businesses side-by-side over the years and are so appreciative of him. Brandon is incredibly creative, is a strong advocate for human rights, and an all-around phenomenal human being.
