We had the good fortune of connecting with Karine Lima and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karine, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
My family is from a small and beautiful town near Porto in Portugal ( Ovar ) and I was born and raised in Paris-France. I have also lived in Greece, Spain and now in the United States. Being multilingual really helps to communicate much more easily with people ( I speak 5 languages ). I realize you can connect and understand better. Having a multicultural background provides different points of views. For example being from a small town in Portugal helped me to never take things for granted, enjoy nature, animals, gardening, family time, friends and to be natural, grounded and much more… Being from a big city like Paris helped me to fight for what I wanted, try luxury things, enjoy culture, gastronomy, meet people from everywhere, make my dreams come true and much more. Having different cultures helped me to balance my life, be open and adapt very quickly! Both made me a balanced person and a better human. Today, I’m a mom, and I’m sure it will also change a lot of things…
What should our readers know about your journey as an artist?
When I was 12 years old I knew I wanted to be an artist, so I told my parents I will start working on it and that’s how everything started…
While I was studying, I was working on my craft and “knocking down doors”… I had to fight, to prove myself and others, I had to make my way where nobody was waiting for me.
As a reminder, I didn’t have internet or a cell phone. Everything was done by mail or in person and with a lot of hope and patience. .
I really believe that when you visualize what you want and you do everything you can in order to make or have it, it happens, but still in a respectful way.
At 12, I started modeling for an agency. I recorded an album at 16 and was on set working as a background to learn all the different trades and options available behind the camera. Then I started to act in commercials and on TV Series, worked as a dancer on television shows and as a singer, actress, and dancer in musicals. When I was 20 years old my television hosting career began and continued for 18 years! As a TV Host and a journalist since 2000 for French, Portuguese and Swiss Television, I have hosted thousands of shows (M6, TF1, I Télé, Eurosport, National Geographic, NRJ12, Canal+, RTPI…) and was finalist for the Price Talent Award Class Communication, nominated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal. As an actress I starred in many TV series, feature films, short films, commercials and music videos.
What should our readers know about your business KaelProductions ?
Because being in front of the camera was not enough, I really wanted to go behind, learn and create even more and in 2013 I took the plunge. As a scriptwriter director and producer I have made hundreds of projects, TV shows, shorts, documentaries, commercials and music videos, always focusing on meaningful projects with powerful messages. I’m very happy to have been rewarded with several awards coming from all over the world, that I of course dedicate to all the amazing people I had the chance to work with. I started my international production company “KaelProductions”, a few years ago and I’m very proud because we are dedicated, trustworthy, professional and have access to the best locations, equipment and talent. We have worked for major clients to produce their films, commercials, training, real estate, short-films, interviews, testimonials, corporate, TV shows, segments, documentaries, live events, green screen, voice-over, photography, casting, web sites and all types of videos from concept to delivery. We do a lot of things and create stunning and engaging content that captures the client’s target audience and I have to say that our clients have been very happy. I can’t wait for my next adventures and to continue meeting new people, creating, growing and learning…

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my parents… I know it might seem obvious to you but believe me I’m an objective person…
My parents arrived in France at the age of 16 in order to flee the dictatorship of their country, Portugal. They built a good life through hard work and courage. They always had 9 to 5 jobs and a regular life. When I decided to be an artist at 12 years old, my parents knew that it would be a journey fraught with pitfalls and would be very difficult. They just asked me to continue my studies but never discouraged me. Instead they took me to my auditions, to the recording studios, and waited for hours, they came to pick me up at the end of my photoshoots or filming in the middle of the night. Without them and their open-mindedness, their patience and their kindness, I could never have started my passions so young. So thank you…
