We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Lorenzana Villegas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrian, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think as long as you believe in yourself and your creative ability you should keep going. Every artist goes through a period where their creative ambition and their creative ability may not be the same but as long as you’re working toward bringing those two closer you’re moving in a positive direction. Every photo made is a learning experience, theirs so many things to learn about yourself and the creative process, so giving up before you have a better idea of why you make work the way you do and how only you can is giving up on yourself. Now some people may give up on pursuing monetary gain from their work and will continue to make the work they enjoy. The most important part is you don’t give up on yourself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Yeah I’m a Portrait and Lifestyle Photographer making work with small brands, musicians and always open to any cool project I can contribute positively to. I think what sets me apart is my versatility and creative abilities beyond photography. Im most excited about working on new projects with musicians and being able to assist on creative branding for their rollouts and always excited to help models improve in their craft-being a first shoot for models and seeing them blossom into amazing creatives is always great. I have gotten here in my creative work by being consistent, always trying to do my best work and just being a good person. Theirs definitely challenges involved and have gotten through them by doubling down on myself and my creative ability. Ive learned to believe in myself always, not every project is for you, and always have coffee. My creative brand is Small Iced Coffee but I order a large- cause its usually less then a dollar more and I’m always welcoming all Creative project proposals I can make a positive contribution to.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay so always have to go to the beach, definitely down to Malibu for the day- drive up PCH at sunset and maybe stop at Republique for dinner. Backyard bowls has the best açaí bowls so go there, the one on Beverly has a blue bottle next door- stop in there for coffee.
not feeling açaí bowls? Kith treats has great ice cream and I love shoes- they have a great shoe wall. Avoid Starbucks and hit all the small coffee shops. Urth cafe is great for lunch, and I would highly suggest reservations at Osteria Mozza.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Theirs definitely a couple people who have given me the opportunity to make work with them that I am forever grateful for. For one Natasha Martin (@violettinder), an amazing photographer who hosted my first solo gallery last year and has allowed me onto her wonderful sets. Another great creative is Dewey Saunders, (@deweysaunders), from meeting on twitter to being able to shoot for his brand High Comfort and has brought me on for a couple of great projects. Lastly my wonderful girlfriend who supports me in my creative endeavors- she’s the first person to hear about my ambitions and projects.
