We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Foxman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As far as I can remember, I was interested in science and always wanted to help others. Through a lot of hard work and sacrifice, I have been privileged to combine these into a career as a board-certified physician practicing Internal Medicine and Preventive Care. Early in my career, I realized that our healthcare system had serious flaws where the more services a physician provided to a patient the more they got paid regardless of the positive or negative patient health outcomes. This is wrong, as this type of reimbursement does not incentivize positive patient outcomes. Therefore, I practice “value based” healthcare, where my reimbursement and that of my medical team revolves around “quality” and not “quantity” of services. When I keep patient’s healthy, happy and away from unnecessary urgent care, ER or hospital visits, we do better as well. I had further expanded “value based” medical care to a new medical business model called Mobile Physician Associates (www.mymobilephysician.com). We are “The 21st Century House Call”, a completely mobile group medical practice offering physician visits and ancillary services such as immunizations, COVID-19 testing, labs, ultrasounds and x-rays in the comfort and convenience of the patients home or assisted living facility. Serving the frail, elderly and disabled population of Los Angeles, we have provided over 50,000 mobile medical visits to date and have been successful in reducing the need for urgent care, ER and hospital visits by over 50%. We have expanded these services to ALL patgients and I am very excited with the growth of Mobile Physician Associates. Ilook forward to making this a national model for our troubled healthcare system.

What should our readers know about your business?
With the combination of my private office based medical practice, the Beverly Hills Institute (www.bhinstitute.com), comprehensive tele-health visits and mobile medical visits, there is NO REASON why a patient would need to forgo medical acute and preventive care services. In addition, now more than ever, the mobile medical services provided by Mobile Physician Associates assist the frail, elderly, disabled population and ALL patients in receiving high quality healthcare while protecting them from unnecessary contact with COVID-19. The mobile medical model is very challenging, but we have created a system that is at the same level of quality, if not higher, than a medical office visit.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With the COVID-19 pandemic this has become a bit challenging. But as we speak today, I would showcase the amazing outdoor activities Los Angeles has to offer including biking in Venice, hiking at Runyon Canyon, boating to Catalina Island, dining outdoors in Beverly Hills. Then Las Vegas…

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dedicated to all of the front line medical providers and team members (everyone from the medical office receptionist, janitors, social workers, nurses, medical assistants and physicians), who have risked their own health and that of their families to keep the wheels of healthcare rolling and assisting patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
