We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Haug and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Patience! Having pursed acting for almost two decades it’s a trait that I’ve definitely acquired over time. But at times I’ve mistaken patience for waiting. It’s more of active patience; where I will be making positive strides in my career, with things like networking, writing, going to class and of course auditioning.

A good example was when I was in my early teenage years living in London and I was an understudy for the Indian Prince in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. And one evening I was called to perform in front of over 100 people and it really was a huge moment for me that came very unexpectedly. And this came in a period of my young acting career where I hadn’t worked much at all, I had been patient for so long and it was an experience that really grew my motivation to another level.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m incredibly proud of “The Chemists”. This is a feature film that I became involved with during my first year in LA. A now finished project with multiple offers currently of companies wanting to give it a home which is incredibly exciting. This project excited me so much as I first read the script, that when I was offered the roll I wanted to go all in to try and help make this the best version it could possibly have been. I helped with some location scouting, adjusting. Organising rehearsals and I became so involved in this production that I was offered a producer credit on the project and I think one of my greatest qualities is total commitment. When I am hooked on a project or endeavour or business idea; I’m completely and utterly hooked.

I am a very active person as well when it comes to sports, from playing football to being a tennis pro, when I am dedicated to something I love, I am all in. I’m very hungry to be apart of a production where I can really showcase some of these skills and I know i will happen too, which is a very exciting prospect. I think through all my different endeavours and wide variety of passions I am able to be in and hold a lot of different conversations which in turn opened a lot of doors for me. Being able to connect with a broad range of people with entirely different interests has really helped me a lot in LA professionally. I have always had a huge curiosity for learning and being able to retain and absorb information well has definitely been a huge asset for me. One thing the world will definitely know about me once they meet me is that I am a person who is always up to any task, always keen to listen and learn and have fun.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Firstly, I have to recall when my best friend, Sam Lowe, first came to LA. He intended to come for 10 days but extended for 3 months, (the longest his ESTA would permit him to be in the US), so I must have been showing him a pretty good time.

So let me try and condense his three month visit into 7 days. The Highlights.

Day 1 (Sat): I pick him up from LAX at 10.32am and we immediately head to the King’s Head Pub to catch the Champions League final to watch Real Madrid win the Champions League again. Alas, for Chelsea to hold the cup again. After an outrageously overpriced steak from Elephante we’d stroll to Bungalow for a cheeky game of pool and ping pong before heading to the Santa Monica peer for some Arcade Mania and oysters. Then after an hour uber back to Echo Park, I’d finally let him unpack the suitcase while I rewatch the highlights of the football.

Day 2 (Sun): Breakfast and Home in Los Feliz, Play some chess at Il Cafe in Downtown. Drink at Harriet;s on a Sunday to catch my boy Will on the decks. Play some tennis at Elysian Park and swim in my pool at sunset which homes a pretty spectacular view of the Downtown skyline.

Day 3 (Mon): Breakfast at the Breakfast Club LA, quick dip and grub at the Highlight Room. Followed by a showing of “The Chemists” at the Chinese Theatre. Catch a quick performance of John Williams at the Hollywood Bowl before dinner at TAO and a boogy at Good Time at Davey Waynes

Day 4 (Tues): Breakfast at Zinque, because their breakfasts go hard with a Mimosa. Starting the day off strong before an outrageous uber to Malibu to experience Point Dune and Paradise Cove’s Marg’s in a pineapple. Whilst kicking a football through white sand and clean air. Need I say more.

Day 5 (Wed): A prosciutto Pizza from Little Dom’s is imperative to a Wednesday, if you’re craving prosciutto pizza on a Wednesday. Javier Bardem: “As it was written”. So it was. We then meander over to Clay CA to create some masterpieces and memories before entering a food coma in Chinatown that we attempt to unsuccessfully cure with a couple drinks at Melody Lounge.

Day 6 (Thurs): Breakfast at Castaway, modern art at The Broad, then Jeffrey Deitch then the Van Gogh immersive Experience rounded off by Dave and Busters and a cheeky game of chess at El Prado followed by an even cheekier game of pool at Little Joy. Then a last minute detour to Bar Lis as we remember Gilles is hosting his famous Jazz Night.

Day 7 (Fri): We go to the Getty as we really enjoyed the culture influx we experience the day before. After heaps of walking and ooh’ing and ah’ing we have a late lunch Superba. Dinner at LAVO. Drink at Barney’s Beanery before a second dinner at Jones.

So much more to do and say, but hey – Sam will return to town again.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mason Bosworth.

He is a major reason of why I moved across the globe to pursue acting stateside. We met at my university in England whilst I was on a creative halt that may not have been reignited had we not met. We filmed a project in the UK together and the rest is history. I have only been in LA a few years and we have already finished a feature film thatI starred in and helped produce with him and we have a few projects that are currently in the pipeline that I’m really excited for everyone to experience next.
