We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Underwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I balance three jobs right now to support my lifestyle and pay my bills while living in Los Angeles. I have always exceled at time management, however, sometimes things do get a little stressful. Thankfully, each job is considered very part-time which allows me to meet self-tape deadlines, get sleep, and be social.

I am currently starting to enroll and sign up for more networking opportunities and attending events/seminars/workshops in my Industry, and these are all what I consider investments in my acting career. So, I find that minimum you need two jobs in order to supplement your career. It is almost September of 2022 as I respond to this interview question and looking back even just a year ago, the pace of life was slower. If I don’t stay on top of emails and calls and keep my calendar filled out, I will definitely feel overwhelmed.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very aggressive in my acting career, and I say that in the best possible way. I have good days and bad days of course, but I don’t let this get me down for too long of a time. I enjoy the challenges that come with all the new experiences I create for myself, and I am now keeping a reflection journal/log. I highly recommend doing this. Every day, I wake up with optimism and continue to work on becoming a better person in the world.

I am most proud of the body of work I have been able to generate and the wonderful, amazing, talented people I have met and been able to work with along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of the first cafe’s I went to when I moved to LA was Vivian’s Millennium Cafe in Studio City. Their French Toast combo is so good. CityWalk Hollywood is also a very special place for me. My boyfriend and I got to experience it during my birthday last October of 2021, and they have so many cool merchandise shops. Universal Studios would also be on the itinerary and my favorite rides were Revenge of the Mummy and Jurassic World – The Ride.

The Oaks Tavern has a fun karaoke bar and trivia night. That place was packed when I went and hot spot to hang out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh gosh! It takes a village to help one person succeed and my shoutout list is long. I am very blessed to have the family, friends, mentors, coaches, and support that I do.
