We had the good fortune of connecting with Amalía Astin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amalía, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I never sought out or planned to start my own business. Rather it feels like the business choose me and I simply followed directions. I have always known my work would be on my own terms, yet I never knew what exactly I wanted to do. Once it began to become clear I was meant to offer (tarot readings, ritual tools, and healing sessions–at least for the time being) the website, name, and operations of the my business fell into place. The behind-the-scenes of starting “ur love matters”, building the site, getting my systems into place, photos, have all been exchanges with friends and family who had the knowledge and skills I needed. All this to say, I feel very grateful everything fell into place.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Ur Love Matters, is a place where I offer tarot readings, Theta Healing sessions, ritual items and workshops to connect individuals back to their own innate Divinity as a means of connecting more deeply with others. I knew I needed to start this business because people I love kept encouraging me to begin. I was also offered the tangible support I needed to get started; a friend built my website for me, another offered weekly business advice, another took my photo. Without this push I might have been comfortable continuing to do my tarot readings at local shops, making candles for friends and giving the occasion Theta Healing session to a loved one in need. Once quarantine in March of 2020 began I was given the time and space to realize I wanted to build something more: a space to house my gifts and expand their reach. This was never something I could have planned for on my own. It actually feels as though my business chose me to build it rather than the other way around. In that way I am trusting its evolution. I have had some frustration and times when my clients were low. I see now how I needed those slower times to build the infiltration and systems to take off. I’d like people to know not to force or push an idea or business, but let it emerge from what they are already called to do. Also my advice is: to trust, and have patience, and do the work, and pray to be used by a Higher Source that knows more about your gifts than you do, and to say thank you. <3

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I grew up and live in the gorgeous Topanga Canyon on the edges of LA so I would say to come here! A lot of the classic local places have closed down unfortunately, but I would say to go on a hike, get a coffee in town, and drive to where ever you feel called. The whole place is magic. I got my start reading Tarot at Moona Star Collective which is a truly special shop run by the world’s best people. Definitely stop by!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my amazing and dear mentor Muppe, who has taught me how to be a grounded conduit and brought so much healing and joy into my life.
