We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Lin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, what role has risk played in your life or career?

My view of the word “risks” has definitely shifted since I started my personal development journey back in 2017. Ever since I was young, risk taking seemed to have a bad connotation in my family. My parents were raised in a very traditional Asian family, so they were taught to be conservative, and they had the belief that it was essential to have safety and security in all areas of their lives. So that’s what I was programmed to believe while growing up. It wasn’t until I started attending various personal development seminars, where I learned about our potentials as human beings and the power of the mind, then I started to have a different understanding of the phrase “risk taking.” Since then, I have done various “risks taking” activities, including walking on a 8 feet burning hot coals, climbed and jumped off a five story building pole, and jumping out of an airplane.

I was not going after the adrenaline rush, but rather, it was to push the limits of my capabilities. I became aware that, in order for me to grow as a person, it’s important to step out of my comfort zone. In order for me to achieve something I’ve never had in my life; I would have to do things that I’ve never done. During the same time, I was taking risks in my career. I left my 9-5 corporate job to becoming an entrepreneur; I stepped out from being in safety to being in the unknown. I took the leap of faith and followed my passion which is to help other people to become the best versions of themselves through personal development. I became an Opulent Coach where I work with entrepreneurs to show them how to live an opulent life. Along the process, I had to overcome my own limiting beliefs/fears and imposter syndrome to believing in myself and take the necessary steps to become the person I am today.

Looking back, I am so grateful that I took the risks and bet on myself so now, I get to live a life of purpose doing what I love to do now. So go ahead and take that risk! Life will take you beyond what you can ever imagine to be!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I am the founder and CEO of The Opulent Academy, a results based organization with educational programs that focuses on the power of the mind. I founded my academy after getting mentored by Bob Proctor, the #1 teacher on success and human potential. I became top 1% of consultants in the world to achieve Bob Proctor’s Inner Circle Member status in the world within six months. Through the mentorship with Bob, I started to look into other thought leaders like Dr. Joe Dispenza and other teaching modalities with the intent to bring a comprehensive learning to my clients.

I believe what sets me apart from others is that I am always eager to learn and apply new teachings to my own life so I can share my own experiences with my clients. I am always looking for the next new edge to help my clients to have a quantum leap in their professional and personal lives. I am grateful to have come across Bob’s teaching initially, which allowed me to dig deeper to the science behind the power of the mind and the correlation to creating success in my life. And my desire to share it with as many people as possible. I have learned many lessons along the way and am still eager to learn more. I would say one of the most important thing is to understand YOURSELF. To understand who you truly are and your infinite potential regardless of your circumstances. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and who are also growth minded.

My passion is helping people to become the best versions of themselves because I have a firm belief that everyone deserves to live an opulent lifestyle. The word opulent means having an abundance of wealth full of richness, in three aspects: materialistically, intellectually, and spiritually. It’s your birth right to live a life full of purpose, luxury, and opulence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

One day is visiting LA. Go shopping at Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills or Melrose, have lunch at Spago and dinner at Providence. Take them to 71 above to see city lights, watch the night view at the Westin Bonaventure rotating bar. Getty Villa is a beautiful outdoor museum. Trump Golf Course has an amazing view.

One day is visiting OC.
I love nature and outdoors so I would definitely take them to the beaches down in OC. Fashion Island in Newport Beach. I would take them to have coffee at the Pelican Hill Resort where they can play a round of golf. Then we can go down to Inspiration Point in Corona Del Mar to watch the sunset. They can stay at the Ritz in Dana Point where they can have amazing steak dinner at enoSTEAK. Anjin has the best japanese style BBQ in town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my mentor/coach Didi Wong. I want to thank her for believing in me when the times that I didn’t believe in myself. Also for her to give me the opportunity to be one of the speakers on the Amazon Prime TV Show “SpeakUp”, introducing me to various book publishing opportunities and speaking engagements. I am blessed and grateful to have a mentor like her in my life. She’s an amazing coach with a kind heart. Thank you!
