Meet Anastasia Kolie | Photographer and Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anastasia Kolie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anastasia, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I believe that every artist burns out too often. And asks himself/herself: “does it worth it?” For me the answer is pretty simple. I can not not doing photography!
I feel that nowadays new photographers want to get famous and earn huge amounts of money staring first day and if they don’t get it, they just give up! We all have social media and the worst thing we can do is to compare ourselves with others. There will always be someone who was born with the camera and earned the first check at the age of 5!
When I’ve started, I never though of being paid for it. I’ve started photography because of me it was and it still is a magic, which I really wanted to be involved into.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One day I woke up and realized that I need to shoot. I need it as air, water or sun! Since that day all my life is only around this passion. So I can’t say that I’m a natural born talent. I’ve attended every course of photography at Photo Academy, I’ve messaged to photographers which I admired and ask them to teach me, I’ve rented tons of photo equipment just to lear hoe it works, because I was so eager to do it. And I keep learning!
I had absolutely exceptional shoots and I had a fail shoots. I learned from both.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to say thanks to the very important word in my life. This word is “Despite”. I want to encourage people to make something amazing not only with support of the people around, but to make it despite every circumstance and every obstacle on their way.
Do it despite your social level, do it despite what other people say, do it despite your gender or age, do it despite no one believes.
Do it for yourself!
