Meet Andres Garcia jiujitsu brown belt and Cater Boba entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andres Garcia and Cater Boba and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andres and Cater, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
My business partners Juan Jose, Santiago and I knew that building something from the ground up in a new country would come with challenges. As one of the owners of the company. I have to say that one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make was leaving my home country, Colombia, to start a business in California. My business partner and I knew that building something from the ground up in a new country would come with challenges—adapting to a different market, understanding new regulations, and establishing a brand in a competitive industry. However, we believed in our vision and took the leap. While the journey has been full of learning curves, it has also been incredibly rewarding, allowing us to bring our passion to life and connect with amazing clients. Looking back, it was a tough but ultimately the right decision.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At Boba La Boba, we’re more than just a catering service—we bring an interactive and luxurious boba experience to every event. What sets us apart is our dedication to quality, customization, and exceptional service. We craft every drink with premium ingredients, offering a wide range of flavors and toppings to suit every taste.
One of the things we are most proud of is how we infuse our Colombian roots into our business. Coming from a culture that values hospitality and rich flavors, we bring that warmth and attention to detail into every event we cater.
We are also excited about the impact we create at celebrations. Whether it’s a wedding, quinceañera, corporate event, or private gathering, seeing guests enjoy a freshly made boba drink and interact with our setup brings us so much joy. The way we personalize our service to match the theme and vibe of each event makes every experience special and memorable.
As we continue to grow in California, we’re looking forward to expanding our offerings and reaching even more people with our unique blend of luxury and fun. The journey has just begun, and we can’t wait to see where it takes us.
Getting to where we are today has been an exciting but challenging journey. As Colombian entrepreneurs starting a business in California, we had to navigate a completely new market, learn about different regulations, and build our brand from the ground up. It definitely wasn’t easy, but every challenge taught us valuable lessons.
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is the importance of adaptability. No two events are the same, and being able to customize our boba catering service to fit different themes, audiences, and client expectations has been key to our success. We’ve also learned that building strong relationships—with customers, vendors, and other small business owners—makes all the difference.
What we want the world to know about Boba La Boba is that we are not just serving drinks; we are creating experiences. Our goal is to bring people together over something as simple yet special as a fresh, handcrafted boba tea. We take pride in delivering not just quality beverages, but also top-tier service that makes every event feel unique and unforgettable.
This is just the beginning for us, and we are excited for what’s ahead. We hope to continue growing, innovating, and sharing our love for boba with even more people
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As someone who practices jiujitsu, loves pizza, and runs a boba catering business, I’d want to show a friend the best of what Los Angeles has to offer—especially the places that inspire me both personally and professionally.
For jiujitsu enthusiasts, a visit to Torse Hose, El Segundo, which is the academy where I train and teach. Training here is not just about technique—it’s about discipline, community, and pushing limits, values that I also bring into my business journey.
When it comes to food, especially pizza, LA is full of incredible options. Pizzana in Brentwood offers a gourmet twist, while Bonelos Pizza delivers that classic New York-style experience. Of course, no food tour would be complete without boba! Since I run Boba La Boba, I’m always looking for inspiration and innovation in the industry. I’d take them to different places around for its modern take on boba culture. Exploring these places helps me stay ahead and bring new ideas into my own catering service.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Building Boba La Boba has been an incredible journey for me and my business partners, and we wouldn’t be where we are without the support of so many people. First and foremost, a huge shoutout to our amazing customers who believe in us and allow us to be part of their special moments. Their support and feedback inspire us to keep growing.
We also want to recognize our families back in Colombia and here in the U.S., who have always encouraged us to chase our dreams, even from miles away. Starting a business in a new country is no easy task, and their love and support have been invaluable.
Lastly, we’d love to give credit to the boba culture itself—the global movement that brings people together over a simple yet special drink. It’s amazing to be part of an industry that fosters connection, joy, and creativity!
