We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Lutomski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our business GIQUE Fitness has been built on Community. We are pop culture enthusiasts who have connected through our love for movies, gaming, cosplay and all things pop culture. Having a community where we support each other with Health, Fitness and Wellbeing has had a great impact on the lives of our members. It gives a place for members to feel welcomed, safe and supported through our health and fitness journeys. We are largely an online community, though we attend comic conventions in Los Angeles andd all across the United States which gives an opportunity for members to meet each other and interact socially in person. We are aiming to increase our membership base, the more people who are healthy, fit and mentally supported, the less impact there is on the world and health care support systems due to illness, injury etc.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are a health, fitness and wellbeing community. We started this community to give people a place to belong and interact with like minded people. We are into our pop culture, games, movies and cosplay. This is what sets us apart. We have a team of online coaches who help our members with their health and fitness goals. We are connected across the globe, with most of our members located in the United States. We attend Comic Conventions across the country – our last convention being LA Comic Con in December. The community was built over a number of years through networking at conventions and through connecting on Instagram. This took a lot of time and investment of money. Our biggest challenge as a not for profit community was obtaining support from Comic Con organizers to provide us with subsidized costs to have our booth at these conventions. We did this by good networking and negotiation skills. We learned the value of building and maintaining good working relationships, and the value of win/win – what can you do for us and what can we do for you? We want the world to know that we are an inviting community for pop-culture enthusiasts and we welcome anyone looking to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing to join us – even if that means you’re looking for a sense of community or belonging.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As we are about health, fitness and wellbeing, we would recommend visiting some of the iconic Los Angeles gyms such as Golds Gym and Muscle Beach in Venice. These locations are well known in the health and fitness world, since they are the places made famous by Arnold Schwazenegger, fitness figures, bodybuilders, instagram influencers and celebrities who reside in and visit Los Angeles. Santa Monica is a beautiful area where there are many tourist attractions, nice beaches, sunny skies, and friendly people. This is where I would take anyone visiting Los Angeles, there are plenty of places to grab a tea, coffee or a nice healthy bite to eat. It’s a very picturesque and tourist friendly area I call home when I’m frequently visiting Los Angeles.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shout out to all the members and volunteers of our community who help in different areas of the business to do what we do. Without our members, our community cannot thrive the way that it does. In particular, I’d like to mention my friends and business partners Andrew McClean and Jennings Brower, both actors and influencers with a keen interest in health, fitness and wellbeing. Andrew (McLean) and Jennings have made the permanent move to Los Angeles and we now call this amazing part of the world home. We have all started our fitness journeys together, with big dreams and a solid work ethic. Lastly I’d like to mention Jonathan Loizou who has recently made the move to LA from NYC to follow his passion in entertainment and media. Jon is doing incredibly well with his own health and fitness journey and I am honoured to be with him along the way. I’m proud to call these three gents my friends, and in the true spirit of this city, we all look out for one another.
