Meet Angelina Strangis | Special Effects Makeup Artist / Angel.Rose.Makeup

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelina Strangis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
While in makeup school I connected with my classmates, we all got to work together to create our very own business cards. My initial thought was to build a clientele and eventually have my own makeup line, but I recently found my true passion in special effects makeup and I am shifting my focus to that as we speak!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Set life is where it all started. I find the rush and fast pace of it all is what really left me wanting more. My passion for makeup lies within the transformation aspect, which is why I am fascinated and engulfed by special effects. Completely changing someones features, creating creatures, simulating live gunshots or stab wounds..now that is magic. I am grateful to be able to do what I love, it was quite the journey and it is never ending in this industry. I have to believe in myself and my art otherwise there is no reason for anyone else too. That along with the business side of it have been my biggest challenges. Finding good people and artist to share this passion with has helped me navigate this career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend came to visit recently, we are both from Minnesota so LA is about as polar opposite as you can get from the land of 10,000 lakes. We quite literally just went to a sushi place and the beach and called that an “adventure”. Besides that Universal Studios is super fun, they have rides and in September-October they have Halloween Horror nights, where all the cool kids hang out. You know; Michael Myers, Frankenstein, Wolfman. Awesome spot if you like movies!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this to my talented mentor Nelly Santiago, she taught me everything about being a strong, dependable, smart, hard working makeup artist. I could go on but without her help navigating this cut throat industry I would have been a mess! Everyone needs guidance, the willingness to learn is important. (IG: Nells26)
