We had the good fortune of connecting with MIZZI and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MIZZI, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
When I first started songwriting professionally, I would be in the studio countless hours, always networking, writing and sometimes two songs a day. Now, I understand that I have to live my life to have something to write about. So I try to make sure I keep a balance of writing music and going out with friends and living. I think that’s important for anyone, no matter their industry or profession.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from other artists is my ability to have a broad spectrum to my musical style. It ranges from sweet, bubbly, pop to bratty, in your face punky vibes. I also think that my background in production helps me be more collaborative in the writing process when I work with producers. Although it took much trial and error and many hours of making music to get to the point that I am today, I wouldn’t trade it for anything because it shaped me into the artist/songwriter I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the beach. So I would definitely recommend Santa Monica and driving up PCH to Malibu. There’s lots of great restaurants along the coast. Then I would take them to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and a hike up to the Hollywood Sign. Finally I would take them for a night out in Weho because it’s never boring. ‘

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to LyricHouse. They are such an amazing and supportive company for musicians. Everyone there is very friendly and it feels like a family vibe. I’m so lucky to be working with them.
