We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Kramer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance is something that is extremely hard to achieve in general but it is especially challenging when you work for yourself. Your business is what you put into it which makes it very hard to disconnect. I am always asking myself what I could be doing better and how I can provide the best value possible to my clients.
These are constant thoughts that consume you when you work for yourself but you need to make it a point to take a mental break to give yourself the rest you need to succeed. I have now made it a rule for myself to never work on Saturdays unless it’s something crucial. Mental health is so important and making sure you create the right work life balance for you is imperative to success. Work life balance looks different for everyone, it’s up to you to figure out what you personally need to achieve the results you’re looking for.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In 2013 I started a PR and Marketing boutique agency Klover Communications. I primarily work with tech companies ranging from startups to publicly traded companies. I focus on empowering innovative companies to effectively communicate and build a strong brand. I believe what sets me apart from others is the approach I take to carefully selecting who I work with. I only work with companies where I believe in their vision, product and or service. I pride myself on keeping true to what I believe in and only working with others who I feel share the same values. I think this is an important foundation for a successful business relationship.
I work in close collaboration with all of my clients and make it a point to thoroughly discuss expectations upfront. I always want to do my best to ensure that the relationship is a good fit for both parties.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think when people come to LA they miss out on the beauty outside of the city. If you have the time to venture out a bit, head on down to Orange County! I always tell people to take a drive down the coast and check out Laguna Beach and Newport Beach but the real hidden gem in OC is Santa Ana. They have such a cool downtown area with so many great restaurants. My top three favorites are Benchmark, Mix Mix and Playground. The service is great and the food is incredible. If you rather hang by the beach, I would suggest Rooftop Lounge in Laguna Beach, they just re-did their menu and the views are magical! My other OC favorites include Social Kitchen, Malibu Farms, Mama D’s and Wild Taco.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a huge shoutout to my dad, Marc Kramer, for being there every step of the way since I started my entrepreneurial journey. My dad has worked for himself his entire career and has always been a rock for me. He is my go-to person for business advice and always takes the time to listen when I need it.
