We had the good fortune of connecting with Arte [Pronounced Art] and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arte, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
If I’m being honest, I still feel like I haven’t reached the level of success I’m working for but there’s been lots of progression over the years. I can say my progress came from failure and using the opportunity to be better and learn from my mistakes without questioning myself or the process. I learned to take strategic risks and consistency which is now a habit I’m proud of.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Music is something that’s always played a huge role in my life. If I remember correctly, I wrote my first rap at 10 years old. Can’t remember what was written but that’s when I knew I was capable of writing music which excited me and I eventually fell in love with it all. I’ve always had this mindset of being different from others, not much to the extreme but staying in my own lane and thinking for myself has been the only way I felt to succeed. I tend to be very picky about my music and some would say I’m a perfectionist, but I would just say I’m very committed and passionate about my craft. Lots of artists ride a wave or style that sounds good for the time being and some of them are only doing it as a hobby. I distribute a lot of focus and hard work for longevity & timelessness. I’m still not where I want to be in my career but I’m beyond grateful and proud of the progress that’s been made over the years. It was miles from easy, but it took lots and lots of FAILURE to overcome the obstacles I no longer face in this process. I learned that patience and believing in yourself should be your main priority because no one will believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself and brand. I want the world to know that my label (Reign Tribe Records) will be known by many in the near future. “Reign” to me means to live in difference in a positive manner, continue to want to be better than the next man, and never be afraid to take risks. The ‘Tribe” represents encouraging the people you love to have the same mindset, for it can be powerful to have a team on the exact level as you if not better.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I am being totally honest, as much as I love where I was raised there’s only so much you can do in the city of Moreno Valley (CA), but if I had show him/her around I would start with the Moreno Valley mall. Trust and believe me when I say that trip wouldn’t last very long so from there we would hit different cities in the Inland Empire such as Riverside, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Corona, etc. I would say the most exciting place to be on a good weekend would be on a good weekend in the IE would be The Ontario Mills and Victoria Gardens just off the fact of better stores and restaurants in those specific areas. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I would like to give all the credit to God. Without him, none of the opportunities and blessings would exist. I love and appreciate my parents for always believing and pushing me to do what I love and not what they want or think I need to do. Much love to all my peers, like my day 1’s/business partners Teelowe & Sunny. I want to give a special thank you to my dog Javi for all the help and advice over the past year. And last but not least, all of my supporters, for they are forever appreciated.
