We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley McGuire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Some days I find that being a parent and a business owner is so complex. I’m always wishing for more hours in a day to be able to juggle both. My oldest daughter has seen me through the entire process of starting my business. She was 4 when I signed up for aesthetics school. We spent that whole year constantly on the go. I was in school every day plus working almost every night. Whenever she asked questions about my crazy schedule I would assure her it would pay off down the line. Fast forward 4 years and we’ve almost hit the pay off stages. Both of my daughters were able to see me build Snatched Beauty Bar from the ground up. One night stands out to me from the early days of starting the business. My oldest daughter was 6 and my youngest was 10 months. The studio was an absolute construction zone. Everything was covered in sawdust, the walls had wet paint, the whole studio was in the middle of being renovated. My oldest was sitting on the floor doing first grade homework, the baby was sitting in a makeshift play area & I was painting the trim of the building. It was so much harder to get everything done with them there, but I’m so glad it happened that way. My daughters were able to see me follow my dreams, put all of my energy & time into creating the studio space, and hustle to get it all finished. I was able to show them first hand that anything is possible with some hard work, patience and dedication. I cant wait to see where this lesson brings them in their lives and which dreams they aim to achieve.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m not sure how many other business owners will be able to relate to this, but in so many ways I feel like my business built itself. I was just along for the ride connecting the dots along the way. Snatched started as a mobile business offering makeup and spray tans in August of 2018. I had been working as a makeup artist and aesthetician for some time and had built a name for myself with these services. One day it clicked in my head that maybe I could do this on my own in my own space. I started thinking it through and looking at how much work it would take to get a business up and running and realized it was actually a possibility. I started exploring different commercial locations. Since the business was already up and running as a mobile business I was able to take my time finding my first location. I waited until I walked into a space and said “this is it!” From there everything continued to fall into place. The studio has its own vibe that’s so fun and energetic yet peaceful and serene all at the same time. It’s a great place to go for a relaxing facial or to get ready with some of your friends. I’m still learning new things every day as a business owner. I imagine that will continue to be the case for years to come. The most important thing I’ve learned this far is how far passion will take you. I’m so passionate about every single service I offer. From a quick brow wax to bridal makeup on someone’s wedding day, I put my entire heart into every service every day. I think people pick up on that and trust me more because of it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Plymouth is such a fun area to visit. There’s so much to do and so many places worth checking out. If my best friend was coming to visit we would start with some shopping in downtown Plymouth. Downtown is located along the water front so there is great shops and food along with views. There are so many adorable small, local boutiques and unique stores. A few of my favorites are Locally Yours, Nectar and Laughing Moon. We would spend all day bouncing between a few of my favorite restaurants. The food in Plymouth is so diverse but it’s all so delicious. A few of my favorite places to eat are Su Casa, Annas Harborside, Bangkok Thai, Cork + Table, and New World Tavern. At some point we would pop into Kisskadee Coffee Co for the best iced coffees. You can’t come to Plymouth without spending a day on the beach. Driving out onto Long Beach is one of my favorite things to do all summer long. A spa day at Mirbeau would be on the itinerary too. My aesthetics career started there so it holds a special place in my heart. But there is no better place to go spend a day relaxing with your best friend. You can spend all day snuggled up in comfy robes, getting amazing spa services and taking the best naps.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There were so many people that went above and beyond being supportive of me opening my business. I’ve said from day one I truly have the most amazing clients I could ever imagine. So much of the success of Snatched is owed to them and their support. I’m so lucky to have opened my first location in Plymouth, MA. The community is very supportive of local businesses. Other business owners made it a point to reach out and welcome me to the town which was so sweet. My friend Nikki Massaj owns a successful massage business and she was the first person I shared my ideas with. She sat down with me and talked business plans, overhead costs and start up costs. She was such an open book about her experience as a business owner which made me so comfortable jumping in myself. My little brothers and my parents were extra helpful with the renovations in the studio. My dad spent hours in the building rewiring lights and installing mirrors. My little brothers helped me paint, clean and cut the stems off off SO many fake flowers to create a custom flower wall. My mom took countless trips to the store with me to purchase decorations and furniture. My best friend Nicole came to hang out with me all day on the day of my state inspection because I was so nervous. She brought me coffee and laughs and went over the checklist with me again and again. Having her there meant the world to me.
