We had the good fortune of connecting with Autumn Shelton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Autumn, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Being successful takes an incredible team of like minded individuals that each bring their own unique skills to the table. Autumn Brands is successful because of our dynamic team of owners and staff, the fact that we stay true to our vision and who we are and that we are constantly communicating with each other and our consumers.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have had many different career paths that has led me to my dream job. I am someone that is good at problem solving, having an attention to detail and crunching numbers. I wasn’t one of those kids that knew what she wanted to be when she grew up, but I did know I wanted to be a successful business woman like my mom. I valued and built on her strengths, learned from her weaknesses and in the end also became a CFO. I attempted to be a solo entrepreneur in my 20’s, but have learned the value of true partnership. I am so proud of the company that we have built in a new and emerging industry. Everyday is a new challenge to overcome, but it has only made us closer, smarter, stronger and more successful. Pesticide free Agriculture, helping develop statewide regulations and countywide ordinances around something that is federally illegal, and creating a brand and consumer product that is limited to only certain retailers and within one state is beyond challenging. But we have learned to pivot quickly on a daily basis to keep up and continue to be in compliance and successful. Autumn Brands is united by the vision of two families that own and operate this business everyday. My partners are 6th generation flower farmers that originated in Holland. We focus on sustainability and being 100% spray fee of all pesticides, herbicides and fungicides allowing for a truly PURE product. We have products for all types of consumers such as Flower, Pre-Rolls, Nourishing Muscle and Joint Salve, Warrior Elixir and Thrive Elixir.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Santa Barbara County is an idyllic place to visit. From the charming towns of Carpinteria and Summerland, to downtown and the hiking trails and beaches of Santa Barbara to wine country in Santa Ynez you can’t go wrong. Since the pandemic, Santa Barbara’s downtown State Street strip has closed it off to cars and allowed the restaurants and bars to expand into the street providing for a plethora of outdoor enjoyment. Visitors should do a taste of the town from the harbor and pier all the way up state street. Enjoy the funk zone and wine tasting up in the valley. Travel a little further south to the quaint towns of Summerland and Carpinteria enjoying their beautiful beaches.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have personally had so many amazing mentors throughout my life, but I would love to give a shout out to my husband, my parents, my in-laws and my business partners for their mentorship, support, love and encouragement along the way.
