We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailey Guilloud and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bailey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I could remember, there were always several sleepless nights throughout the month. It was either my mind, or my body that got in the way – a combination of things. It got really bad, to the point where I was legit sleeping 2-3 hours a night for a month…. I was irritable, unfocused, gaining weight, and I ended up turning an injury into chronic pain and fibromyalgia that lasted years because my body wasn’t able to heal. I became desperate to learn anything that would help my fibromyalgia and insomnia. In 2009, I started studying low inflammation diets and lifestyle, understanding how to influence your biology, and eventually how to tie everything in with an intuitive and unbreakable mindset. My coaching background actually started in a funny place… I was coaching entrepreneurs on how to pitch to investors. I would encourage them to show up as confident in front of a room of really intimidating people, sort of like a shark tank situation (no joke lol). That laid the groundwork for my journey as the role of a coach, and I loved it. So, I decided to use the knowledge I gained in healing my own insomnia & chronic pain to coach people in holistic health. I found myself pivoting again to include a focus on anxiety and confidence all the while building on holistic wellness and sleep. The thing about sleep is – It’s connected to everything from the food you eat, the words you speak, and the habits you form – So I knew I needed an “all connected” approach to heal it for good. I teach my clients to heal themselves in the physical and metaphysical so they never have to worry about their sleep again!
What should our readers know about your business?
My biggest challenge and lesson from starting my business as a solopreneur – is the importance of actually being there for yourself, and know that you won’t succeed until you really believe that you can. I want the world to know that you can live a modern lifestyle, live the life that you want to live, and still have incredible sleep!!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d drive to Zuma Beach and *try* to surf if it’s the adventurous friend! I’d make a picnic somewhere on Tuna Canyon with the foodie friend! But most likely, I’d just make yummy drinks and appetizers at home! 🙂
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I attribute the fire to all my success to my mentorships! I’m going to have to shout out Tim Ferris and the 4 Hour Work Week, as one of the first books I read in my journey to becoming an entrepreneur. In this book, I really learned the value of mentorships and understood that mentorships show you the blueprint to success! The first real mentors I had was this couple with a non-profit that created artistic displays in hospitals. I ended up being on the board with them. I feel like I learned the most from just watching them work, and seeing what it feels like to work for a purpose you believe in.
