We had the good fortune of connecting with Batel Tamiet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Batel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was inspired by how impactful legacies can be. I didn’t just want to run a business, I wanted to build a foundation and a space in which I could water, nurture, and grow. The icing on the cake would be to witness the fruit of my labor in this lifetime. I believe that starting your own business is not only numbers and transactions, but rather a way of sharing a story, building relationships, and changing the way of things in the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am so proud of my most recent short film and performance art piece, [ 121 ], a monologue on mirroring, deeply rooted conflict, and the process of attempting to reach a resolution. I am excited to share the body of work that is a byproduct of this project. That means more photos and videos and a continuation to the story being told. I am here because I am consistent and dedicated; being adaptive is the most valuable skill to exercise. As long as the mission is clear, the setting, condition, or any external variable should not matter. Time is on your side, not against you. I’ve witnessed beautiful growth in steady settings, and I bring that to my craft and personal life. What sets me apart is my authenticity and resilience. I’m here for a good and long time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok, ok, I have the perfect place, but unfortunately, I don’t have a name—I’ll explain. I used to live in K Town, and just a few blocks from my apartment is a hidden treasure. A traditional Korean Restaurant in which you feel like you’ve traveled. The setting is so authentic, the food is amazing, and the energy is good. After food and drinks, we could walk over to The Line Hotel, have drinks, and listen to music. Depending on the crowd, Break Room 86 is right around the corner… I loved living in K Town. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a formal shoutout to Claire Shea—she deserves recognition for the support behind the scenes. As always, I’d love to show gratitude to my family, friends, network, and tribe. Of course gratitude to the Most High.
