We had the good fortune of connecting with Beatrice Pacheco and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beatrice, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Growing up in El Paso Texas, I had the honour of living in a border city that has this unconditional love about it. Doesn’t matter who you are, the people of the city have pride for one another. It’s a place where Everyone is referred to mijo or mija. A place where people pull over for funeral services and pay their respects even if we don’t know them. It’s a large city with that sense of community still in full force. A great example is the ever talented singer Khalid who without a hesitation gives back to the community here or even Aaron Jones who gives back as well. The common denominator for el pasonans such as myself is that it’s second nature to care for one another. It’s basically Mr. Rogers neighborhood with a Chicano flare! It’s an unspoken instinctual agreement we have instilled within our community that I myself hold very dear and attempt to share within my creative work. My goal is to spread the same sense of community outside of the sun city. I hope The compassion and care for one another will spread like wildfire and help us to regain our sense of community and initiate healing in a country desperate for connection and healing.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started out With MotherMoonQuiltCo where I began making and selling love intentioned quilts. I am a practicing witch and do energy work and I wanted to put loving energies into handmade quilts with the goal of comforting those that they were gifted to or purchased by. I now have expanded my business to my more spiritual side with Www. TarotbyBea.com where I offer my tarot reading services and witchcraft online store and business. The most difficult part of starting a passion project or business for me at least was letting go of the fear of how I may appear to the general public and most especially my friends and family. Fear of how others will react to your truth I think is the biggest hurdle you gotta jump before things really begin to take off.
Due to this fear, I had to learn how to trust myself and face the fact that I was living for others rather than myself. I learned to change the perspective. Once I took the plunge and decided I would no longer hide who I really was my business began to flourish! My most favourite part about it all was the fact that everyone I was afraid of judging me ended up congratulating me and telling me how I’ve inspired them to live more authentically. It really blew my mind honestly. Just coming out and taking that risk you know? It changed my world! Now, i advise and make charms and read cards for people of all walks of life! I am now currently pursuing my priestess hood in the Cabot Tradition of Witchcraft to further help my community at large with energy healing and self love.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I lived in the La Habra area, my husband and I would hit up Knotts Berry Farm and end the evening with a delicious latte from the Coffee Code! That place has the most phenomenal raspberry lattes and the foam art is to die for! We would take Everyone that would come into town to visit there!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe my gratitude to my family, friends, clients and my spiritual teachers for supporting my endeavours no matter how crazy they sound! I am grateful for Laurie Cabot the Witch of Salem who is currently mentoring me in Witchcraft and my journey to priesthood in the Cabot Tradition.. I am grateful for Robin Ramsey for leading me and continuing to mentor me out the kindness of her heart. For the encouraging words of my Cabot family and my personal family especially my father and grandfather who have had the most influence on my world view and wanting to make a more loving and safe place for everyone. My husband for encouraging me to continue during my hard and dark times.
