Meet Becca Mohler | Singer + Songwriter for Little Coyotes

We had the good fortune of connecting with Becca Mohler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Becca, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
As an indie folk children’s artist, a quote that resonates with me is,
“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” — John Muir
This quote reflects the magic of exploration and the inspiration that the great outdoors provides. It reminds me that as I wander on hikes, I’m not just searching for ideas for songs, but also discovering a sense of peace and connection to the world around me.
The beauty of nature often seeps into my music, encouraging a sense of wonder and curiosity in children. I love this quote because it encapsulates the essence of my artistic journey—embracing the unexpected gifts that come from immersing oneself in the natural world. Just like a walk in the woods can spark creativity, my hope is that my music inspires children to appreciate and protect the environment, fostering a sense of adventure and appreciation for the beauty around them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As Little Coyotes, my music draws inspiration from my journey as the co-founder of Cal Heights Music, an all-ages music school in Long Beach, CA. Through our baby, toddler, and preschool classes, I’ve witnessed the joy of children connecting with music and nature, which has profoundly influenced my songwriting. What sets me apart is my commitment to fostering that same love for the outdoors in my audience, encouraging families to explore and cherish their natural surroundings. While balancing my roles as a parent, artist, and music educator has presented challenges, these experiences have taught me resilience and the value of community. Ultimately, Little Coyotes is a heartfelt extension of Cal Heights Music, inviting families to embrace adventure together and nurture a lifelong appreciation for both music and the environment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Long Beach, I’d take them to some of my favorite spots that showcase the beauty of the area. We’d start at the El Dorado Nature Center, where we could enjoy peaceful hikes and immerse ourselves in nature. Next, we’d explore the Aquarium of the Pacific, where we could learn about marine life and enjoy interactive exhibits. Finally, I’d take them to Barnyard Buddies at Lakewood Equestrian Center, where we could interact with adorable animals.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my three amazing children, who inspire me every day. Their boundless curiosity and wonder for the world around them remind me of the beauty and magic in nature, fueling my creativity as an artist.
