We had the good fortune of connecting with Bei Song and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bei, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I believe the most important thing is trust. Parents who trust their children enough will give them space to be independent, because they believe that their children, as independent individuals, have the ability to handle things on their own. Such children are often more independent. In addition, trust provides children with intangible support. When children make choices, trust itself becomes a form of support. This kind of support helps children become more confident and less hesitant in their actions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I’m most proud of is my creativity and sense of aesthetics. Being an animation artist requires a lot of imagination. Since I was young, I’ve always been a person full of ideas. For me now, creating a unique character is very easy, and making an interesting animation comes naturally. My aesthetic sense helps me present my ideas in a great way, allowing me to blend both commercial and experimental elements. Of course, my aesthetic sense wasn’t something I was born with. Due to my love for animation, I’ve never dismissed any type of work. I constantly watch the works of various artists and different kinds of commercial animations, and all of this has shaped the unique person I am today.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think some must-visit attractions in LA include the Griffith Observatory, the Natural History Museum, and Santa Monica Beach. I would recommend spending about half a week exploring these places. Afterward, you can visit the vintage markets in Melrose, where you’ll find plenty of film cameras and second-hand clothing. Then, head to the famous LA library, The Last Bookstore – spending a day reading there would be incredibly pleasant. Finally, spend another day in the Silver Lake neighborhood, checking out coffee shops and flower shops.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to several key people and sources of inspiration in my life. First and foremost, my family has been a constant source of support and encouragement. They’ve always support me. I am someone who values self-reflection and loves learning and growing through others. On my journey through life, everyone I’ve met and every experience I’ve had has contributed to my growth in some way. However, without my parents’ support, I might not have been able to pursue the path of art with such determination and focus. Without making that firm choice, it would have been difficult for me to develop my talents, improve my environment, and meet more outstanding people from whom I could learn.
